Jules in Flats - July Outfits (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!

If you're new here, I skipped posting last week (what would have been July Outfits Week Two) as I only worked three days and then went on our annual family camping trip!  I definitely could have worked in the morning on Thursday as we didn't need to leave super early to get to the campsite, and then I would have had 4 work outfits to show you.  But I would have struggled to find time to put the post together, plus it was nice to have extra time on Thursday to get ready for camping!  (Packing our bags and the car, etc.)

Jules in Flats - Shadow Stripe Fit and Flare Floral Dress (Business Casual Spring Workwear on a Budget)
I haven't worn this dress in awhile and it's SO pretty!  Can you believe it's from Forever 21?!
I kept it simple with neutral flats and a classic necklace.  It was nice to start the week off with a winning outfit :)

Jules in Flats - Hot Pink Midi Shirt Dress (Business Casual Spring Workwear on a Budget)
This dress again!  I will probably wear this once or twice more before summer's over and then you won't see it again until next year.  Last time I wore this dress I switched out the belt but I wanted to keep it a bit looser this time around so I used the tie belt that came with the dress, and paired it with tan accessories.  You can't really see the headband I'm wearing, but it's a tortoise shell pattern, so I thought the browns would pair well with my woven mules.

Jules in Flats - Boxy Striped Top with Pleated Mini Skirt (Business Casual Spring Workwear on a Budget)
I loved this outfit!  I was pretty proud of myself for putting together what I thought was a new way to wear both of these items, but looking at the pictures now I do think I have worn this combo before!  LOL . And that's okay, I'm still happy with it!  The only downside about this outfit is that I wore it on a windy day!

Jules in Flats - Chambray Tassel Tie Top with White Jeans (Business Casual Spring Workwear on a Budget)
If this isn't a Summer Fridays outfit then I don't know what is!  LOL . I have been wearing white jeans to work on Fridays for the past probably 3 or 4 Fridays since I found this pair from Old Navy.  It's funny, I'm pretty sure I tried on this style last year and I didn't like them.  But this year I am like YES.  They are higher rise, straight cut, slightly stretchy and most importantly not see through! They do have a raw hem but I had to cut mine about an inch and a half more to get them to hit at my ankle (I'm 5'3").  Pair this outfit with sandals and you've got a great casual look!

We went camping at Bromley Rock Provincial Park, which is about a 4-hour drive from Vancouver.  Every year we go somewhere different, so it's always an adventure!  A few years into it we decided to do a different theme every year, too.  This year the theme was South Polynesian for example, and last year it was Vikings!  T and I decided to narrow down our particular outfits and meal to pineapple.  We made pulled pork tacos with pineapple salsa, served with tortilla chips & homemade guac and pineapple mojitos and no-jitos for the littles!  You can see our outfits on my Insta here!
The way we divide up the meals is that each couple or family prepares one breakfast or dinner for the group, so you only have to cook once all weekend.  For lunches and snacks you are 'on your own' but we all end up sharing.  There was no cell service at the campground, which I don't think anyone was expecting, and while it felt strange to be disconnected it was also nice to not be distracted by the internet all the time, too.

It was also nice to use the time I would normally take to take outfit photos and work on the blog in the morning to do other things!  Mainly this translated into going into work early, leaving work early and getting to a gym class that started at 4:30 or 5:00 instead of the usual 5:30.  All of this meaning that I was able to have more time in the evenings to GSD and spend time with T.  It was a nice change of pace and gave me some insight into how else I can use my time / change up my routine.  Next week will likely be my last week of regular photos & blog posts as the scaffolding is going up for the balcony remediation project at the end of the month and we are going to lose access to our patio!  I haven't figured out what I'm going to do about outfit pics yet, so stay tuned.

I've been feeling pretty uninspired on the shopping front for the past couple of weeks and haven't bought anything since this post.  I even went shopping in person this week and didn't see a single thing that I wanted!  Are you feeling the same way or are you all about the #nsale?

This weekend we stayed home and I was so productive Friday night when T was at board games!  Normally I go to yoga on Friday and then maybe do some laundry when I get home, but this week I wasn't really feeling like going to yoga and I got so much done around the apartment in that time, it was great!  I cleaned out the fridge (we had all these leftovers from camping that needed to be dealt with), took out the compost and garbage, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, did laundry, put away so much laundry from last weekend, changed the sheets on our bed, and installed this pull-out organizer in one of our cupboards!  Super exciting stuff, I know LOL

The rest of the weekend we are going to spend enjoying our patio while we still have it!  For me this means getting my tan on and for T it means gardening!  We're also slowly moving items from our balcony and patio into our parking stall for storage during the project.  So there's some work in there but it's mostly play!  Isn't that what weekends are for?!
