Jules in Flats - December Outfits (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget).

Hi everyone, Happy December!

Last weekend we put our Christmas tree up and it makes me so happy to see it glowing in the corner of our living room!  I've done a bit of Christmas shopping so far, but I'm really only buying for Tony this year, one gift each for our niece and nephew, plus one 'white elephant' gift for the family.  My work's holiday party is on Tuesday and we do a white elephant gift exchange there as well, so I'm waiting to see if there are good ideas there before I buy my family gift!

Jules in Flats - Gap Lavender Tunic Sweater (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget) - 1

I love this sweater (it is from Gap last year I believe), but it can be hard to wear sometimes due to the longer length.  I think it really worked in this case because the High-Waisted Super Skinny Ankle Pants from Old Navy don't have a traditional waistband like the Pixie Pants do.  Very happy with this outfit and I love the colour of this sweater too ... I just bought this sweater in the same colour and don't know if I should keep it??

Jules in Flats - Pink Check Mini Skirt with Grey Blazer (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I was planning on wearing a different skirt with this outfit!  Originally I had decided on my tweed-like skirt from H&M (last worn here), but when I turned around in the mirror, I noticed a big hole in the back of the skirt!!  LOL. I'm so glad I checked because my blazer would not have been long enough to cover the hole that's for sure!  This pink check mini skirt was a great substitute though and is one of those items in my closet that I can really only get away with wearing in December.

Jules in Flats - Red Floral Blouse + Duster Cardigan (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)

Wearing this blouse reminded me of how much I love it, and how I should shop at Banana Republic more!  I bought it this summer at Banana Republic Factory, and for me patterned blouses are such a staple of my workwear closet.  They don't have to be fancy, this one is quite simple but I love wearing red so I know I'll reach for it often, the white flowers go with everything, and I love love a v-neck.  Plus the fabric doesn't wrinkle easily so I didn't have to steam this before wearing which is a major bonus!

Jules in Flats - Plaid Shift Dress + Long Sweater Vest (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)
This dress is another Banana Republic Factory find from this summer!  I really like this dress, it's made of a soft knit material so it's actually quite cozy.  I'm not sure how practical the short sleeves are though as it's not a dress that I would wear in spring or summer.  Last time I wore this dress I layered a black blazer over top; I didn't want to repeat that so I tried it with my sweater vest from Aritzia but I was concerned I would be too cold!  (I wasn't.  It was fine!)

What is everyone up to this weekend?  I have a few errands to do today (picking up a blouse from the tailor, getting fitted for new running shoes, putting away laundry, trying on a bunch of shopping that arrived) but other than that we don't have any plans! We have Marriage Story downloaded, so we'll probably be watching that at some point.

Last weekend we watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (we saw it in theatres in the summer), Home Alone ('tis the season!) and The Irishman, which was far too long IMO, but the acting was really good, so there's that!  We also started watching Bon Appetit's YouTube channel and some of the videos on there are great!  Our friends told us about the Doritos episode in the summer I think and while that particular show isn't my favourite, there are some fun videos on there for sure.  I would recommend checking it out if you're into cooking shows at all!

Most of my shopping from last week has arrived, I just need to try everything on and decide what to keep!  I think I might do a try-on video for Instagram Stories, so follow me over there if you want to see how everything looks on, otherwise next week I'll do a listing of what I'm keeping & returning.  What I can tell you for sure is that I'm keeping the Abercrombie Sherpa Fleece & Keds Sneakers, and I'm returning the Sam Edelman Petty Ankle Boots.  I'm surprised to be returning the boots TBH because I've tried them on before, and I thought they were going to be perfect replacements for my Old Navy ankle boots from last season, which are looking a little worse for wear.  But they were too big, and the toe was too rounded.  They just weren't right!  I've ordered these ones from Steve Madden to try instead, so I'll let you know how they go!

This week I also impulsively purchased two pairs of pants from Banana Republic.  I was looking for blouses like the red one I'm wearing in outfit #3 (didn't find any), and pants were 50% off, so I thought I would try on this pair of skinny ankle pants, and this pair of wide leg crops.  I have a pair of light grey wide leg cropped pants from J.Crew that I love, but the material is quite lightweight and cold, so I don't want to wear them in the winter (though I will probably wear them next week).  Plus I have to steam them before every wear which is annoying.  So the material of the Banana ones intrigued me, and I thought I would check them out in the skinny pant version as well.

Have you guys been doing any shopping lately?  Please share in the comments below!  And thank you so much for reading!

xo JULES
