Jules in Flats - December Outfits (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!  I can't believe next week is my last week of work for the year!  Are any of you working the following week?  Next weekend we will be heading up to the Okanagan for a week to spend Christmas with my family and are kicking it off with tickets to the latest Star Wars movie with my sister, brother in law, niece and nephew.  I personally don't have any great affinity for Star Wars, but we've watched all of these most recent ones with my sister and her fam, so it's special in that sense.  Also, speaking of Star Wars - is anyone else watching The Mandalorian?  I'm watching it purely for the Baby Yoda content, he is so freaking cute!!

I posted a selfie of this look to Instagram to celebrate my clean hair!  LOL.  It was the first time I had washed my hair in a full 7 days so it felt like a pretty big deal at the time!

Jules in Flats - Jacquard Midi Skirt with Cropped Sweater (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)

I wore this outfit to work and then to our holiday work party afterwards!  I didn't want to get changed in between and thought this outfit struck a nice balance between work-appropriate and slightly festive.  I was worried about going bare-legged as it's been cold, but I was OK!

The day after my holiday work party ... I was tired!  LOL . T and I stayed up late talking movies and awards / nominations, and the next day I had a late meeting with a client and ended up taking a nap on the couch after dinner which is very unlike me!

Jules in Flats - Aritzia Tie Neck Mini Dress (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget)

Day 4 hair = ponytail!  I haven't worn this dress in awhile, so that was one reason I chose it.  The other is that I don't often wear my hair back, so it's nice to show off a front detail like the tie neck on this dress when I do!

So like I told you last week, a lot of my online shopping orders arrived and I did end up doing a try-on on my Instagram Stories, so head on over there and click on the Try Ons 2 Highlight if you want to see!  I actually need to organize all of the items this weekend for keep or return and get the return shipments ready.  Here's what I'm thinking I'll keep:

Oatmeal Beige XS

Black Jack 2 Regular
(I wore these this week!)

Black XS

Black 6
(I wore these last weekend!  Note I sized down half a size)

White 6.5

Grey XS
(I wore this last weekend ... it's the best!!!)

Navy Blue Dot XS
(I ordered this to get free shipping and even though it's hard to imagine what I'll be wearing next summer, I do think I'll wear this, so it's a keep!)

Here's what I'm going to return:

Black XS

White XS

Black 6.5

Black 6.5
(If you watch my Stories you'll see they only sent me one boot!  ONE!  LOL)

Purple Amethyst XS

Pink Multi XS

Black

Oatmeal

Copper Spice XS

Salado Black Suede Ankle Boots
Black 6.5
(I need to try these on with a dress, but after trying them on with pants I think they are too casual.  The toe is too round, and though the side cut out is flattering, it means you can't wear socks with them.  One of the reasons I like wearing ankle boots in the winter is to keep my feet warm!!)

The skinny ankle pants from Banana Republic also arrived, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them yet or not.  They are kind of a weird material!  I ordered some wide-leg crops in the same material but they haven't arrived yet.

Last weekend we ended up having a bit of an Adam Driver weekend, we watched The Report and Marriage Story pretty much back to back!  I would recommend watching both.  Here's some other content we've been consuming:

We've been enjoying the series The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us.

I started reading Where the Crawdads Sing.  And I'm about half way through the audiobook version of Maybe You Should Talk To Someone.

I listened to the Bad on Paper / Be There in Five crossover episodes this week, back to back.  I think my favourite parts of the episodes were the relatable nostalgia moments, and I'm excited that Kate is going to be doing some 'decades' deep dives soon!  Her one on the 2000's and the 'age of Pinterest' sounds right up my alley.

Survivor.  Always!  Shocked about this.

The Voice!  T doesn't like this show but puts up with me watching it.  I'm not super invested in anyone this season, but Rose's performance this week was very powerful / emotional.

Masterchef The Professionals.  I got one of my colleagues into this show so let me spread the good news here as well.  It's a little more cutthroat as the contestants are real chefs, not amateur home cooks.  And there are ton of episodes.

The Apprentice UK.  Not proud of this one but just wanted to be honest with you!  Sometimes you need a little trash.

Vicki Duong shared this last night on Stories and it resonated with me.  Also this.

Enjoyed this article: Work should be over when it gets dark.

Now I need your recs!  What series should we get into over the holidays, and what are some good podcasts we can listen to on our road trip??
