Jules in Flats July Outfits (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!  How are you?!

As usual, here's a look at what I wore to work last week.

It has been hot here, which used to be unusual for Vancouver, but every summer for the past 5 years we've had an increasing number of days in the high 20's'/early 30's (Celsius).  This spell is going to last for 2 weeks I think (we're already on the second week)!  Nobody here has air conditioning because historically, you didn't need it.  We have a portable air conditioner that friends gave us when we moved into our current apartment 6 years ago, and I'm so glad they did!  When we first moved in I think we only had about 1 straight week of hot weather and it was so great for that but I kind of questioned keeping it around as it takes up space in the storage locker during the winter and is kind of an eyesore, but it is so worth it!

In other very exciting news, we sold our place!!  We got the offer on Monday, went back and forth a few times on the price that day, showed it one last time on Wednesday night and closed on Thursday!  We are so happy and also excited that we can get back to living normally! LOL It's so strange trying to live in a place that's supposed to look like nobody lives there!

Of course now the next phase is finding somewhere else to live!  We don't have anything lined up yet, but we do have our eye on one place that we'll probably make an offer on this weekend or Monday.  Wish us luck!!

The wedding last weekend was amazing!  The weather and location were perfect, everyone looked gorgeous, the food was great, there was an open bar, we saw lots of people we haven't seen for awhile (some since high school!), and best of all the bride and groom were happy and surrounded by their friends and loved ones :) :) . I posted a couple of pics that include what I wore to my Instagram if you're interested!

This weekend we are going to head down to Kits Point to watch the fireworks, and on Sunday we are going to Brewery and the Beast!  This is an annual event that is also held in Calgary and Victoria.  We went for the first time 2 years ago and missed out on tickets last year, so we are happy to be going back tomorrow!  Hopefully the meat coma I will inevitably eat myself into will be gone by the time I have to go to work on Monday!

Anyways, I hope you have a great weekend and thank you for reading!

Hi everyone!  How are you?!

I'm currently in Comox on Vancouver Island, sitting on the balcony of our hotel room, waiting to get ready to go to my besties wedding in just a few short hours!  We got in last night around 10pm and I was so tired, I only managed to watch about two episodes on HGTV before falling asleep!  LOL  This morning we kind of slept in and then went for brunch at The Hen and the Hog as per my bestie's recommendation, which was just a short walk from our hotel.  Don't let the outside appearance fool you (it's attached to a motel), it was delicious!

As you can see, my H&M order arrived and I decided to keep a short black dress (the outfit with the kimono), and the black sandals.  My Forever 21 order also arrived and I'm keeping both the striped midi dress and the earrings (wearing them today!), but I think I'm going to have the dressed hemmed as it's quite long on me.  From Gap/Old Navy I'm keeping this top (wore it on Friday!), and probably this striped tunic as well.  The sleeveless top, eyelet top and denim shorts were hard nos sadly.

I hope you all have a great week, and thank you so much for reading!

Hi everyone!  How are you??

This has been an exciting week for us, we finally put our apartment on the market and the first open houses are this weekend!  As you may know, we did a kitchen reno before listing.  Some of you asked to see before and after pics, so if you're interested I've put them in my Instagram Story Highlights, along with all of the real estate listing photos.

To balance out the fact that last week I didn't shop at all, this week I placed an order from Gap/Old Navy and Forever 21, and my H&M order arrived!  I haven't tried on my H&M purchases yet, except for the shoes.  Two pairs (these and these) ended up being too big, so I've ordered them in a size down, and the sandals I haven't quite decided on.  I tried them on at work when they arrived but there's no full-length mirror there so I couldn't really see what they looked like! LOL

From Gap and Old Navy I ordered a bunch of tops to try (this eyelet blouse, this striped top, this boho top and this striped tunic), as well as a pair of dark denim shorts.  From Forever 21 I ordered this striped midi shirt dress and these earrings, which I'm hoping to wear to my bestie's wedding next weekend with this dress!

Since we can't be home during the open houses this weekend, we've been spending the afternoons at the beach!  Well, yesterday I went to yoga and then the beach and T went to a friend's house to play boardgames.  Afterwards, he picked me up and we went for dinner on a patio.  The weather has been so good so it's perfect!  Today we are going to go to an open house and then maybe brunch or lunch, then the beach again!  I LOVE being in the sun, whenever it's sunny I just want to be outside!  And it's funny it's totally hereditary - my parents (mum in particular) is just like me, and so are my brother and sister - we just can't get enough!  LOL I think being from an island definitely instilled that in us, along with our love of the water.  And I'm sure it's helpful that we don't burn easily either!

Anyways, wherever you are and whatever you're up to this weekend, I hope it's great!

Thank you all so much for visiting!

Jules-in-Flats-July-Outfits

Hi everyone!  Here's a look at what I wore to work last week.

Did you all have a good holiday week?  I lot of the bloggers I follow are American, and many of them said the week felt so weird with the holiday right in the middle!  For my fellow Canadians, wasn't it nice having a long weekend and a short week?!  The best.

I decided to keep the patriotism going on Tuesday with my sleeveless cream tunic and red pants.  They just happened to be next in the rotation, so it worked out perfectly!  (All of my coloured and patterned pants are stacked in a pile on one of my closet shelves.  Each time I wear a pair, they go to the bottom of the stack, so the pair on top is next in the rotation!  This ensures I don't over-wear any particular pair, and also cuts down on the decision-making in the morning!)

The fuschia midi shirtdress is a Banana Republic Factory find.  It was such a good deal I knew I had to buy it, even if I only wore it once or twice per summer.  It's lightweight, has pockets, is professional enough for work and is my favourite colour, so what's not to love?!  lol

The weather has been cold in the morning, warming up quite a bit in the afternoons, meanwhile AC blasting inside, so I've been trying to dress in layers.  My third outfit with the cardigan is atop a very cute heart-print top; it's almost like a high-neck camisole.  It's made of poly, so it's super lightweight, and looks great with jeans too for a night out or something like that.  I don't feel super comfortable wearing it on it's own at work, but with a layer I think it's totally appropriate.

You'll notice I switched things around in the last outfit!  We're listing our place for sale (it should be up tomorrow actually!!), and realized for the pictures it would look better if our BBQ was on the other end of the balcony (where I normally stand for pics), so now I'm on the opposite side!

I didn't do any shopping this week, which I am totally shocked by.  I thought the Canada Day/July 4th deals would be too good to pass up, but I just didn't find anything I had to buy.  Although, saying that, I checked out Old Navy's new arrivals yesterday because I haven't bought anything from them for awhile, and how cute is this striped one-piece?!  I also really want this jumpsuit to pop back up in my size, and am on the lookout for a good pair of dark denim shorts.  If you have any recommendations in that area, please let me know!!

Hi everyone!  Here's a look at what I wore to work last week.

Also, hello blog redesign!  Do you guys like it?!  I'm really happy, I think it looks clean and fresh and I love the rose gold header.  Please bear with me as I iron out the kinks!

I feel like I am getting really bad at remixing my closet - I'm pretty sure I've worn all of these exact same outfits before, with the exception of the yellow eyelet top as it's new!  I think it's so cute though, I wish I had bought it sooner!

As you may know, it's a long weekend here in Canada because of Canada Day!  Last year we went to Victoria to visit friends and family, and we got to go boating/fishing with my cousin and her wife which was the perfect day (even if we were a bit hungover from the previous night's festivities!).  This year, this weather is kind of crappy so I'm glad we didn't make any plans that depended on it.

On Sunday, I hiked the Sea to Summit Trail in Squamish with some friends.  We were a bit worried as we drove through rain on the way there, but by the time we got to the top three hours later, it was sunny!  We had some lunch, looked around/took some pictures and then rode the gondola back down.  Later on, T and I went to a friend's place for a Canada Day party and we watched the fireworks from their rooftop deck!

Saturday we moved some boxes and things to our storage locker, and did some shopping for staging our place.  Today will be more of the same, and perhaps an Ikea trip/movie night since there's a big theatre out there.  We shall see!  This week we have cleaners coming, stagers and photos so we can have our place listed by this time next week!  Eek!

In shopping news, I've had tabs open for these sunglasses, this jumpsuit and these sandals open all week, hoping for a sale, free shipping or a re-stock in my size/colour.  The jumpsuit was on sale and in-stock in my size last weekend and I should have just bought it then!  The sunglasses I want in black and the sandals are because I need a new pair of plain black sandals I can wear to work and they're only $45!

I did an order from H&M this week, because I really want a black bodycon dress to wear with my kimono, but I don't want to spend too much.  So I ordered this one and this one to try in a couple of different sizes, this maxi dress which is perfect for summer, these flats because I can never have too many pairs of black flats, these sandals (see above!), and these cute scalloped slingbacks because they are cute and fun and only $20 :).  I'll let you know how they all turn out!

Canadian readers, I hope you are all having a great long weekend, and happy early 4th to my American readers!
