Hi everyone! How are you?
Here's a look at what I wore to work last week.
My 40% off J.Crew order arrived with 3 pairs of culottes, and the 2 Petite ended up working the best. I ordered them in the grey because the black was backordered, and while I think black is more versatile, I'm glad I decided to keep the grey. It's nice and light and Spring-y, and I probably won't be wearing them too much in the Winter so they are seasonally appropriate. Although, with a thick cream or white cropped sweater I think they would look really cute!
The other new item I'm wearing this week is this tie-front blouse from Dynamite. Unfortunately this pattern is sold out, but I've linked to the exact same top just in solid colours. I'm obsessed with tie-front tops this year and am wondering how many is too many?? They are great with high waist pants and skirts and because they nip in at the smallest part of your waist, they make your legs look longer! Somehow I didn't have a white floral top so this fills a nice gap in my closet and I can see wearing it on the weekends too with jeans or shorts.
The second two outfits I am kind of meh on. Well, the third one with the navy pants and grey blazer especially. I was having a hard time deciding what to wear that day, and then everything I put on just felt so tight (probably the huge bowl of ramen I scarfed down the night before?!). So, I wasn't feeling great about this outfit to begin with, and then the photos didn't turn out very well either. Bleh.
The final outfit with the skirt I actually liked better in person, but in the photos I think I look a little dowdy. Maybe midi skirts are not as flattering as I thought they were? Also, what is happening with the hem on this skirt? It is weirdly uneven on the left ...!

Anyways, this weekend I am going to Vancouver Island for my bestie's Bachelorette party!! We've rented a house on the lake and I'm so excited for some girl time (plus, the weather is supposed to be great!). I don't think I've touched on this much on the blog, but I don't have many girlfriends here in Vancouver. Most of them have moved away, and while we still keep in touch, it's not quite the same as having a friend in the same city that you can see all the time! I am a shy person, so reaching out to new people is hard for me. When I think back on it, most of the friends I made after high school were initiated by the other person! I know I'm not alone in struggling to make friends as an adult - Carly just wrote about it, Grace has talked about it multiple times and even started this Facebook page so her readers could get to know each other, and the Everygirl has done a post or two about it as well. I know that part of the problem for me in particular, is that given the choice between hanging out with T, and doing pretty much anything else, including a possibly awkward social outing with new 'friends' or people I don't know, is that I would always choose T. And while maybe that worked when my friends actually lived here, I think it's time I put myself out there and made some new friends!
But back to the clothes! Last week I mentioned I was waiting for these white jeans to arrive and I don't know if I've gained weight, but I could barely squeeze into them! I ordered my regular size in Old Navy pants, 2 (and also 2P for length), so maybe this style just runs small? I thought it was so strange because in my experience ON runs large. But in any case, I've exchanged them for a 4P so fingers crossed they fit better! I also ordered 2 pairs of overalls, these ones from Gap and these "shortalls" from Old Navy, along with this cute mustard top, these denim cutoffs and these block heel mules in coral to try with this dress for the wedding we are going to this summer. I'm not totally sure I can pull off overalls, but I'm excited to get them to try!
Anyways, thank you all so much for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend!
See the blogs I link-up with here!
I'm loving the grey culottes on you! The look like they fit you perfectly!

These are all cute outfits! Love your pleated black skirt and how versatile it is. Your weekend sounds fun! I don't have a lot of friends either. Since after having my son, some friends just sort of drifted away and then the others are far away that it's hard to just hang out. In the same token, I prefer my time to be spent with my hubby too given the choice. I don't know what it is but I like being together. We have fun and I don't feel the need to look elsewhere I suppose??? Anyway, happy Friday and have a super weekend!
