Hi everyone!

Thank you all SO much for your well wishes on my last post!  I am feeling better but still have some residual symptoms working their way out of my system.   Despite my cold, we had a great weekend and it was honestly so nice to go away for a night!  It only took us 2 hours door to door to get to the resort, which includes driving to and waiting for the ferry (you have to get there at least 30 before it departs) and a 40 minute ferry ride.  Not too bad for feeling like you're in a whole other world!

Anyways, we arrived at the resort around 2pm and immediately jumped in the hot tub for a soak.  Afterwards, I felt like a nap but we ended up hanging on the couch with the fireplace on and a movie on the TV while the rain came down outside.  Our dinner reservation was at 7:30 and I hadn't eaten since 11:30 or so, so we drove into town to get some snacks and brought them back to our room.  We made a little charcuterie platter, opened a bottle of wine and T taught me a new board game.  It was easy and fun and I won!  Haha!  Dinner was delicious, although the drive was a little treacherous!  It's a really narrow, winding road and it was pitch dark, windy, raining hard and there were pine needles and tree debris all over the road!

The next day we were so surprised that we woke up to sun!  We had appointments for massages at the spa and oh man, they were SO nice.  My masseuse gave me eucalyptus oil for my cold and had a heating pad for my feet/back while the other area was being treated.  Afterwards, you go into a steam shower and lather yourself with clay before rinsing it off.  THEN you can go and use the outdoor hot tub, saltwater pool and sauna.  We used the hot tub for a bit before heading back to our room to clean up and check out.  By that time we were starving so we grabbed lunch at the Grasshopper Pub which is up on a hill and has a great view of the ocean and the harbour.  After lunch it was time to head home!  I must have really rallied for the weekend because by the time we got home I was exhausted and spent the entirety of the next day on the couch!  I felt kind of bad because that was our actual anniversary day, but T didn't mind (and he was home too, which was nice :)).

Anyways, here's a look at what I wore to work this week.  Nothing new or revolutionary here, though I haven't worn that Joe Fresh cashmere sweater for a while!  I bought it a couple of winters ago, it was on sale for around $50 I believe which is a good price for cashmere!  It's available in grey for $45 right now but all the lilac ones I linked above are under $100 too!  You maybe can't tell but in the last outfit I'm wearing my OTK boots with black skinny jeans.  I did this last week on Friday too (didn't photo that outfit); it's a nice way of wearing OTK boots to work without being too obvious I think; plus it lets me change up my footwear while keeping my feet warm!  Unfortunately I've learned the hard way that they are not to be worn in the rain!  :(

This weekend we are having our niece and nephew over for a sleepover Saturday night while my sister and brother in law go to a birthday party!  They are great kids and really fun so I know we'll have a good time.  Other than that, no plans!  I went to hot yoga on Friday night, which was the first exercise I've done in over a week and it felt really good!  I've been really into hot yoga lately ... I think it's the weather!

Anyways, I hope you all have a great weekend, and thank you for reading!

Hey everyone!  How are you?

I'm getting sick :( :(
Thursday night I started getting a sore throat and it hasn't gotten any better (but also not any worse ... so that's something) . UNFORTUNATELY the timing is terrible (not that getting sick is ever at a 'good time') as T and I are going away to the Sunshine Coast this weekend for our anniversary!
Monday is our 4-year wedding anniversary, though we have been together for 13!  So crazy.  The place we are going is actually where we had our 'engagement-moon' 5 years ago!
So I'm really excited to go back ... even though I'm sick ... and it's going to rain the whole time! LOL
We'll just cozy up in the hot tub or cabin and drink wine and play board games and read books and listen to the rain.  Oh, and go to the spa! ;)

Anyways, here's a look at what I wore to work last week!  The Old Navy dress is new .. although not so new that it's sold out in this pattern (sorry).  I'm wearing an XS for reference (I'm 5'3") and was going to wear it with my OTK boots but wasn't sure if the dress would be too long or not.  Looking at these photos, I think they would've worked!

All I want to do right now is wear cozy sweaters - my black cable-knit sweater is really thick and I've already worn it this month on the blog.  It's old from Joe Fresh but this and this look similar!  Also, my turtleneck sweater is old from Jacob (a Canadian company that is no longer) but such a staple for winter!  I like how this one is a donegal fabric (meaning lightly flecked) which gives it warmth and dimension.

I wear black shoes so much in the winter that I tried to switch it up with the last outfit (for your sake, and mine!) with some oldie but goodie camel flats from J.Crew Factory.

Anyways, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Tell me what you're up to in the comments below!

Hi everyone!  Happy weekend!

How was your week?  If it was your first week back at work over the holidays I'm sure you are even more happy it's the weekend! LOL .  We don't have many plans this weekend which is nice (I think); last night T had friends over again to play a boardgame and I went to hot yoga and then did some research for our anniversary next weekend (we are thinking about going away for the weekend, or maybe just a day trip to Scandinave Spa in Whistler?)  Tonight we are going for dinner and a movie and tomorrow we don't have any plans (except we need to do laundry and I want to do my nails :p!)

T made me take down our Christmas Tree this week so the corner it was in is feeling very sparse now and the snake plant that lives there is dying so it looks really sad! LOL

Anyways, there are a couple of new pieces here that I'm excited to share with you!  #1, these Dolce Vita OTK boots that I bought in December and have worn a few times on the weekends with jeans finally making their work and blog debut!  I have to say, I didn't find the slippage all that bad with jeans, but with a dress (even with knee-high socks underneath) they were falling down all the time!  Maybe it's also the nature of sitting and standing all the time too but I don't think I'll be wearing them with dresses/skirts/bare legs all that much in the future.  #2, this H&M sweater I told you about last week (which is now on sale!)  How cute is it?!  I'm all for keeping a list of shopping wants/needs (I use the Notes app on my phone) but sometimes you find the best stuff when you're not looking!

The last two outfits are all old things I've worn before; I think I've had that Forever21 dress and H&M striped shirt for at least 5 years!  And apologies for the photo quality it has been really dark here in the mornings!

As always, thank you for reading!

Hi everyone!  How are you?

I was back at work last week after the holiday break and while it was a short week, it sure felt long! LOL!  To all of you that don't go back until tomorrow, I'm jealous!

We still have our Christmas Tree up ... I know most people take them down Boxing Day or at least New Year's Day but I just can't bring myself to do it yet!  It's so pretty!  LOL

T and eased into the New Year with brunch and a couples massage & facial yesterday (the hand treatment had a cold, burning sensation that T hated! LOL), followed by a movie night & takeout with friends at our place.  We watched Call Me By Your Name and had BBQ from The Devil's Elbow (which I think my body is still trying to digest!).  I thought the movie was good, but not great.  Props to the main actor, I think this is his first major movie!

Today we are just hibernating - hiding from the rain and enjoying a sleep-in and some couch time.  I finished Season 2 of The Crown on Friday - are any of you fans?  I loved both seasons but felt a little let down/confused by the Season 2 Finale!  Anyways, I need a new show so if you have any recommendations let me know in the comments!  A friend at work recommended Line of Duty so we might try that next!

On Friday T had some friends over to play a new board game so I went downtown to return a couple of things (this sweater, it just didn't look good on me! And these two dresses (1, 2) - I kept the XS in this dress as it fit the best) and do some 'light' shopping.  I had a couple of gift cards to Nordstrom and wanted to buy a small black crossbody bag and was happy this one from BP was in stock!  I saw it on Ashley from Twenties Girl Style and thought it was so cute so I'm glad I was able to get it.  While I was there I tried on the notorious Blank NYC suede moto jacket ... I think I need it in grey!  What do you guys think?

I also bought another black bag (a tote from Winners), this sweater from H&M and some socks and underwear (so exciting!).

Anyways, thank for you reading and I hope you have a great week!

Jules in Flats: Favourite Outfits of 2017

1.01.2018

Jules in Flats - Favourite Outfits of 2017
Row 1: January, February, March, April
Row 2: May, June, July, August
Row 3: September, October, November, December

Hi everyone!

Here's a look at some of my favourite outfits from 2017!

I picked one outfit from each month to make things easier!  I find it interesting that I picked two outfits with that H&M pink lace pencil skirt since I rarely wear it (it's old, similar here)!  I find pencil skirts uncomfortable/restrictive and hard to walk in! LOL but they do look great obviously so I guess they can be worth it sometimes!  Other winners seem to be my J.Crew skater skirt (old, sorry! similar here) and my black pleated midi skirt from Dynamite (sold out, similar).

What do you think?  Did I miss any of your favourites?!
