Well hello there!  Welcome to another week!
To update you on Friday's post, I had a chance to get to Gap to try on their Ultra Skinny Pants. They were having a 40% off everything sale, so I tried on a few other things as well ...  The fit of the US wasn't amazing so I didn't buy them and will continue my search for a pair of full-length black skinny pants I can wear to work.  I did end up buying a couple of super-soft basic shirts from Gap that were $10 and $6 with the discount - score!

Pants Talk

3.28.2014

(Jacket by Le Chateau, Cardigan by Zara (similar), Top by Old Navy (similar), Pants by Gap, Boots by Old Navy (sold out, similar), Scarf by H&M (similar from H&M), Necklace by Aldo (old, kind of similar))

I've noticed my hair is looking a little red in some pictures lately.  I think it's just the light, because it doesn't look like that in real life although I do have some red undertones in there.
Anyways.  This outfit is from last week when it was sunny but cold.  All I wanted to do was wear cute flats but I knew my feet needed to be shrouded in socks.  My poor ankles though!  I absolutely need a pair of work-apropro black skinny pants that go all.the.way.down.  Any recommendations?  I love these pants from Gap, they are the "Slim Cropped" style, but the "Ultra Skinny", which looks to me to be their longer-length version of the SC fits me totally different!  Urg!  Maybe I should just try them again because it's been at least a year since I purchased and re-sold my US's and they might be making them a little differently or I can try a different size.  I recall the fit was quite loose and the ankle opening too big.  Anyways. All I've been wanting to wear lately is pants.  I don't know why, I've always loved dresses & skirts (particularly in the summer) but these days its just pants for days.  On Tuesday I forced myself to wear a dress so you'll probably see that outfit next week, but prepare yourself for lots of 'skinny pants and sweaters' outfits till then!

Just popping in for a quick hello on this hump day!
This is the outfit I wore on my first day of my new job, last Wednesday.  I definitely some 'blogger pressure' on this one - layering, mixing patterns, and the statement necklace!  Overall I think it works, but it was absolutely more work than I usually put into an outfit.  Is that a good thing or is that not staying true to my style?  I don't know, but I do think it's good to experiment every once in awhile!

Weekend Recap

3.24.2014

(Trench no name via eBay (similar striped), Top by Old Navy, Vest & Leggings by Gap Factory (similar vest), Boots by Aldo (similar), Scarf no name via eBay (similar), Purse by Coach (outlet) (similar))

Hi everyone!  Did you have a nice weekend?
Tony and I both had to work on Saturday, which was rainy and cold, but we got to have dinner that night with my sister and her family (in from the Okanagan for the weekend) and a couple of friends and their kids too, so that was fun.  We went to Milestones in English Bay since they were staying in a hotel nearby and I could actually get a reservation for 10 people on a Saturday night with only 2 hours notice!  When T & I got home we split a Cupcake and watched Wolf of Wall Street.  I had pretty low expectations since the reviews weren't favourable and it looked like all the good scenes were in the trailer, but I ended up liking it.  It's really long, and not all the parts were good, but Leo, Jonah & Margot's performances were great and overall I enjoyed it.
We went out for dinner on Friday night too, for a friend's birthday party, to a fairly new pub in Kitsilano, Colony.  The food & drinks were good (half-price wings on Friday!), but the music was really loud so it was hard to talk, and the service definitely dropped off as the place got busier.
Sunday was pretty glorious!  We slept in and made Eggs Benedict for brunch.  I got to catch up on blogging and Pinterest and we did some tidying around the apartment too.  It's not glamourous, but it's what I needed!

Rainy Days, Hangovers & Target Canada

3.19.2014

(Jacket no name via eBay (similar striped), Sweater by Old Navy (similar for $10!), Jeans by J Brand (via local consignment shop), Boots by Hunter (via eBay))

This is an outfit I wore on Saturday when I was hungover and it was pouring rain.  Normally I would avoid leaving the house with a hangover, but I had decided earlier in the week to accompany T to Richmond (he had to work) so that I could go to Target.  Target has been open in Canada for over a year but I hadn't gone to one yet!  They are all out in the 'burbs and honestly I don't have any reason to go out there!  So this was a great excuse.  I took my time and just wandered around the entire store.  I wasn't in a buying/trying on mood, which was great for my wallet, and I saw tons of cute stuff.  I would say the only difference I noticed between the one I went to here and the ones in the US is that this one was poorly stocked in some cases.  The shoes were particularly bad.  Only about 50% of the shoes they carried (ie, boxes on shelves) had display pairs out.  Usually there are multiple sizes of each shoe, in each colour, on display.  So that was disappointing.  But other than that, pretty much the same as the US!  I also went to HomeSense when I was out there and picked up an extremely cute mint & white throw pillow for our couch.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

So here is the outfit I wore on Friday for my second interview, as promised.
I am happy to report that I got the job!  I will be the new Office Manager for a restaurant in Yaletown!  I start tomorrow and will be sure to update you on what it's like and of course, what I wear to work!

In other news, my parents are in town for a few days.  We haven't seen them since the wedding so it'll be nice to catch up with them & play tourist in Vancouver.  My Mum works in the school system and Spring Break is for the next two weeks, hence coming during the week.  One of the main reasons for them visiting is actually to bring us a fridge!!  Our fridge has been leaking since we moved in, and has actually caused some damage to the floor & baseboard around it.  We have been putting off buying a new one because they are upwards of $1000 and we have been managing the leak by putting a towel inside the fridge where the water's coming out.  Anyways, my parents want to buy a new fridge as well, and their old one is pretty much the same size as ours (amazing!), and my Dad has a truck!  So they brought it down for us yesterday and we Craigslisted ours & someone's coming to get it tonight!  We're also going to be going out for a nice dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday (last weekend) and my dad's birthday (end of the month) :)

Breaking out the Bright Pants

3.14.2014

(Blazer and Pants by H&M (similar blazer, similar pants), Sweater by Banana Republic (outlet)(similar), Shoes by Vince Camuto (outlet), Purse by Coach (outlet)(similar))

Well, I didn't realize that the last time I took outfit pics I was wearing this sweater!  Oops!
Hopefully you aren't too sick of seeing it.  This is an outfit I wore on Wednesday for an interview downtown.  They asked me to come back for another interview today so I should have another outfit post for you on Monday, and hopefully the meeting goes well!

Tonight we are having some friends over for a St. Patrick's Day Painting & Pickle Party!
Basically what's happening is that we wanted to have a painting party (we bought small canvases, brushes, paints) so everyone can create some art, if they want to.  Since it's close to St. Patrick's Day we added that into the mix, and we're going to have pickles & other green snacks so Pickle ended up in the title too!

Have a Happy Weekend!
