Jules in Flats - April Outfits (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)

Jules in Flats - April Outfits (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!  How are you?!

As I was editing these photos I realized that my outfits with pants this week are basically opposites of each other!  (Dots on top or bottom, paired with another solid dark colour).  Oh well!

It's funny, I thought when I bought the black and white dot pants that they would go with everything, but the truth is I struggled to put together this (very simple) outfit!  I guess my M.O. is mainly plain bottoms and patterned tops?!

Anyways, if you didn't see my Insta Stories try-ons (I saved them to my Highlights if you want to go watch!), I've branched out from my Pixie pants to try Old Navy's High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Pants, which I'm wearing here in the black dot in my regular size 2.  I also tried these in the gingham and olive green colours, and the green seems to run small, just FYI.  These pants have a side zip and no front pockets, but they do have faux back pockets.  I found them to run small at first (they were hard to zip up), but by the end of the day they were much easier to zip up while also maintaining their shape.  So far, I really like them.  I had two differing comments on Insta about how they wash and wear (someone said they kept shrinking, and another person said they wash better than the Pixies!), so I will keep you updated on my experience.

The yellow dress and cardigan are new Old Navy, too.  I bought the dress in regular XS and Petite S to try, and ended up keeping the Petite S as it was a tiny bit shorter.  If it shrinks a bit in the wash that is okay with me too.

The weather really turned this week from sunny and beautiful to super rainy and cold.  The day I wore the black dot pants it was raining really hard, so I had to take outfit pics on our covered balcony which I was not prepared for, so apologies for those pics!

Last night when I got home from work I was SO cold!  I had been cold all day and just could not shake it.  As soon as I got home I wrapped myself in a cozy fleece and curled up on the couch.  Normally I go to yoga on Friday nights but I was too cold!  LOL . So I stayed home and read Daisy Jones and The Six instead.  I was already about halfway through and finished it last night.  It was pretty good!  Afterwards I put on Annie Hall (I'm making it my mission to watch some classic Rom Coms I've never seen before!  Last week it was When Harry Met Sally) but kept falling asleep!  I think I got the gist of it though?!  LOL

I did another big order from Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic and H&M last weekend.  I think I am finally getting over the sticker shock of doing a big order.  I have to remind myself that I am not keeping everything, I am just trying things on.  The final bill will not be nearly as bad.

H&M just sent me the shipping confirmation and I'm so mad, two of the things I was really looking forward to were cancelled!  I guess they weren't in stock?  It was this straw tote and this macrame bag :( . The other things I ordered were these sunglasses, these joggers in dark pink, this casual summer dress, this sleeveless jumpsuit (for an event later this month), this v-neck camisole in white and black, these pointed mules, this striped skirt, this black midi skirt, this black pleated skirt and this creped jumpsuit.

From Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic, I ordered two bralettes to try (this one and this one), a striped shirtdress from Gap and one from Old Navy (in two sizes), a pink sweatshirt, denim shorts in a size up from the last ones I ordered & had to return, this extremely cute striped linen jumpsuit in white and lavender (in two different sizes to try), another casual summer dress, this super cute top in the mauve colour, and this sleeveless botanical print top from Banana.  So far only the top from BR has arrived, but once everything does I will do a try-on in Insta Stories!

Anyways, it's supposed to rain all weekend so I'm not sure what we are going to do.  Probably just have a lazy weekend at home with a lot of couch time, catching up on blog reading, watching TV and movies etc.  We have some annoying things that need to be done like our taxes (!), organizing the front hall closet, backing up my iPhone/organizing photos and I'm sure loads of other things I can't think of at the moment!

What are you all up to this weekend?  More exciting things than me I hope!

Thank you for reading!

xo JULES
