Jules in Flats - March Work Outfits (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)

Last Saturday my J.Crew order arrived with the striped peplum top I'm wearing below, this drapey crepe faux-wrap top and these sunglasses.  I ordered the wrap top in this beautiful pale lilac colour called Sweet Hyacinth and wore it out for my birthday dinner with a pair of high-waisted dark jeans.  I want to show it to you so I'll wear it to work next week!  Funny story, if you follow me on Insta Stories you'll know I did a poll about what colour I should get in the wrap top and the overwhelming majority voted for green!  Which I admit is beautiful, but I don't have a lot of that colour in my wardrobe and when a sale finally came around and I was ready to pull the trigger I was just really drawn to the Hyacinth colour.  I think it has to do with wanting to lighten up my wardrobe with pastels etc. since Spring is coming!  Anyways, the wrap top is great, it's a thick crepey material that feels very good quality.  (Hot tip if you get the wrap top: there is a side zipper which makes it SO much easier to get on!!  LOL)   I sized up to a 4 based on the reviews, and while I think it fits fine if I had tried it on in store I probably would have tried on the 2 as well.   Same goes for the striped peplum top - I'm wearing my normal size (2) and it's a bit boxy but not oversized.  If I'd tried it in store I would have tried on the 0 just as a comparison.  This one is 100% cotton so it may also shrink in the wash.

I really like the look of the Cabana oversize sunglasses too - they are oversized, but not too much you know?  The only thing I don't love is that they slip down the bridge of my nose very easily.  This happens to me with a lot of glasses (regular and sunglasses) and is super annoying.  I'm thinking of ordering this Nerd Wax to see if it helps - have any of you tried it?  Or if you have another solution for slipping glasses please lmk!!

I know I said this two weeks ago, but Old Navy is really killing it with their New Arrivals for Spring.  H&M too, actually.  If you follow me on Pinterest you know I've been pinning like crazy!  LOL But I haven't purchased anything ... yet.  I think I'm waiting for myself to make a plan for what I want to wear this Spring, rather than just buying all of the cute things, but I haven't quite gotten there yet.  Like I need to go through my closet and assess what I need and what Spring trends I want to try and what kind of outfits I am going to want to wear etc etc.

One thing I'm pretty certain of is that I would like a new yellow dress for Spring.  The sheer quantity Old Navy has right now tells me this is a good idea, plus I would like to replace this one that I have.  I find I just don't reach for it that often for two reasons: 1. The neckline & shape of the dress.  I can't wear it without a necklace because otherwise it looks too plain.  If it was cinched in at the waist and had a v-neck, it would be a lot more versatile IMO.  2. It wrinkles like crazy.  Enough said.  3. (I know I said two but I just thought of another one) The ruffle sleeves mean you can't wear a cardigan over top of it.  So I'm considering this one, this one, this one, and this one (basically all of the yellow dresses that ON has right now!) . Which one is your fave?  And while we're at it, what are you buying for Spring?

It's supposed to warm up here next week and I am so ready for it.  As for this weekend, we don't have any plans and I am all about it!  Last night I went to yoga and Tony had friends over to play board games (I believe they played Arcadia Quest and Time Stories if you wanted to know!).  Today it's sunny and 10 degrees (C), Tony had to work for a bit and I'm just hanging at home writing this blog post!  I didn't have time last weekend to get a manicure so I was thinking maybe I would do that this afternoon.  And we don't have any food in the fridge so will probably end up going out for dinner, which is always nice.
Actually we've barely had any groceries all week and I am very proud of myself for making 3 dinners out of basically nothing.  Some weeks I am full of inspiration and creativity in the kitchen and others I'm just like let's order takeout every night.  Is anyone else like that?  I used to be kind of obsessed with meal planning and grocery shopping (this is when I worked Tuesday - Saturday and would fill my Mondays with chores and errands) and it was exhausting.  Also, since I did the majority of the planning and shopping, I would also do most of the cooking.  We don't have an 'I cook, you clean' policy in our house, and I also used to be a bit obsessive over cleaning up the kitchen before I went to bed, so I would do a lot of the after-dinner clean up as well.   Can you see why I was so exhausted by this dinner routine?  LOL Anyways since I started working Monday to Friday and I don't have my own car (and hate grocery shopping on the weekend when the store is so busy), it's made it a lot more difficult to meal plan and buy groceries for an entire week.  Tony and I decided that 3 dinners is enough to plan for, and we kind of alternate weeks buying groceries and cooking.  It's not set in stone or anything, whoever feels like doing it just does.  Or for Tony who is out and about a lot in the car often he'll just do it if it's convenient.  Like if he's driving by a grocery store on his way home at 3pm and knows we need groceries he'll just stop and grab a couple of things, you know?

Well that's probably enough rambling on for now!  If you'd made it this far, thank you! LOL
Wherever you are and whatever you're doing this weekend I hope you're happy and healthy and thank you so much for visiting!
