Jules in Flats - October Outfits (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

Jules in Flats - October Outfits (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!

I have been sooo sick this week!  I started to get a cold last week, it thankfully (and strangely) took a break over the weekend, but then was back with a vengeance on Monday.  We were a little short-staffed this week and I had so much work to do, I felt like I couldn't take a day off until yesterday.  And I have to work today, too!

I didn't get to do any shopping last weekend like I was hoping to, but I did just place an order for these dress booties from Steve Madden that I've had my eye on for awhile.  I was just waiting for a sale and got one (20% off) with the code EXTRA20.  Unfortunately you can only use one promo code per order on the Steve Madden website so I wasn't able to get free shipping, which really irks me!  Anyways, I've been looking for a pair of dress booties with a low (< 2") heel that I can wear with dresses and skirts to work, as I find that my ankle booties from Old Navy are a bit too casual.  I've tried these, thesethese and these but they all haven't worked for one reason or another.  The main thing I'm finding is the shaft digs into my ankle when I walk so I'm hoping these ones have more of a sock-bootie like shaft & upper.

MY MORNING ROUTINE

This week, I thought it would be fun to share my morning routine with you!  My morning routine is really important to me as it sets me up for success for the rest of the day.  I don't like feeling rushed or stressed so I give myself plenty of time to get ready and organized before I leave the house.

6:20am  -  Alarm goes off

6:20am - 7:00am  -  Hit Snooze 2 - 4 times

7:00am - 7:10am  -  Shower

7:10am - 7:15am  -  Moisturize, apply face serums, deodorant

7:15am  - Put coffee on

7:15am - 7:30am  -  Do makeup

7:30am - 7:45am  -  Do hair

7:45am - 8:00am  -  Get dressed

8:00am - 8:10am - Take outfit pics for the blog!  Sometimes I will do this from 8:20 - 8:30am, if it's too dark at 8:00am

8:10am - 8:30am  -  Make a cup of coffee and work on my blog post for the week!

1. Download images from camera to computer
2. Pick one and crop/edit it for Instagram
3. Airdrop it to my Phone
4. Add outfit details to blog post draft
5. Create product widget in ShopStyle and add links to blog post
6. Copy widget to blog post
7. Pin outfit items from ShopStyle to "What I Wore" board on Pinterest
7. Convert Widget to Look
8. Use image I saved for Instagram for Look
9. Pin Look to "My Instagram" board on Pinterest
10. Post Airdropped image to Instagram Stories
11. Pin last week's blog post images to one of the following boards:
Jules in Flats
Look du Jour
Fashion Bloggers we Love
Oh Hey Girl!
(I keep a list of which images have been pinned where so I don't duplicate)
12. Add last week's blog post to any link-ups I'm participating in that day and comment on the blog post

8:30am - 8:40am -  Get breakfast (and lunch, maybe) ready to go.  Typically I'll measure 1/3 cup oats into a tupperware container, add 1/2 tbsp of chia seeds and a sprinkle of cinnamon.  Then I top with plain unsweetened almond milk and bring a side of fruit.  Once I get to work and get hungry, I'll pop the oats in the microwave and top with a tablespoon of peanut butter and whatever fruit I've brought.  Sometimes I'll save the fruit to eat as a snack in the afternoon.

8:40am - 8:45am  -  Pack my bag, say goodbye to T and head out the door!

Usually I'm at work by 8:55am if not earlier!

I don't stick to a tight timeline from showering to being ready to take outfit pics, but it usually takes me about an hour and I like to be ready by 8am.  Otherwise, some part of working on the blog is going to get missed.  Once I see the clock hit 8:30am I give myself 5 minutes to close my laptop and get to work on breakfast.

Do you have a morning routine?  What does it look like?

  2. You are so productive in your mornings! When I'm heading into the office I'm up, dressed, out the door and at my desk for 7.30am. I can't really do anything other than get ready. My days at home with the boys are a bit more productive - I get up early and get some blog stuff done before they wake up :)

Hope that you have had a lovely weekend :) We went to a wedding which was a lot of fun :)

  3. I'm in awe of how productive you are on your blog before your workday even begins! Well done! I've been loving some of your recent outfits with the lighter-coloured skirts or dresses paired with dark tights and boots, by the way!
