Jules in Flats - October Outfits (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

Jules in Flats - October Outfits (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!

It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, which seems so early this year!  For my American readers, this must seem extra early considering your Thanksgiving is in November!!

We are heading to the Okanagan for the weekend and I am really looking forward to turkey dinner on Sunday, wine tasting, and of course spending time with my family!

The weather's really gotten chilly here, especially in the mornings and at night, so as you can see I had to break out the tights!  Also, two crop top outfits in a row?  Coincidence I swear!  We (my work) had a fun event with a contemporary art foundation this week so I wanted to wear a fun, artsy outfit that was a little less 'business'.  I think the culottes, cropped sweater and leopard flats was a good choice, even if T was calling me a "genie" LOL!

I've done a couple of Q&A's on Instagram so I thought it would be fun to answer a few of the most frequently asked questions here too, in case you don't follow me on Stories :)

1. What do you do for a living?
-I work at Canada's largest fine art auction house!  (Think Sotheby's or Christies, but in Canada).  I'm a Consignment Specialist and Manager of the Vancouver Office.  I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours with a major in Art History, so feel very lucky to be working in my field!

2. How old are you?
-I'm 33!

4. Where do you find outfit inspiration?
-Pinterest and blogs!  You can see a list of some of my favourite blogs here and follow me on Pinterest here!

5. What inspired you to start blogging?
-Reading other blogs & seeing a gap in what was being portrayed and real life, affordable workwear.  Also, no one was wearing flats!

6. What is your favourite & top 5 places to shop?
-If you read my blog you probably can figure this out because I wear a lot of the same brands over and over again:

1. H&M
2. Old Navy/Gap
3. J.Crew/J.Crew Factory
4. Dynamite
5. Zara

7. Do you pick out your outfits the night before?
-No!  I want to do a post about how I choose my outfits and might incorporate it into a closet tour, too :)

If you have any other questions, please please leave me a comment below or DM me on Insta!

I hope you enjoyed the Q&A and have a great weekend!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you! That does seem early, but only because, like you said, I'm so used to a late November date. I adore these outfits...that blue skirt totally has me swooning!

  3. Oh I love that first outfit - the pieces look great together, such a fun colour combination! :)

I'd love a post on how you pick outfits too! I always plan mine out the night before as I have no time in the mornings trying to get myself and two kids ready!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend! It was forecast to be wet and rainy here but it hasn't been too bad which is nice :)
