Jules in Flats - April Outfits

Hi everyone!  Happy Weekend!  How was your week?

The weather here was really beautiful (note the bare legs!) and we definitely got a taste of summer with 2 days of +20!  Of course, now that the weekend is here, so is the rain!  I'm actually kind of glad it's raining, or at least I will be tomorrow because we are going to see the new Avengers movie at 3pm!  I kind of hate going to a matinee when it's sunny out, so this worked out perfectly!  Today, on the other hand ... I have some errands to run (isn't that always the way on the weekend?!) like picking up my winter coats from the drycleaners (and then finding somewhere to store them for the next 7 months :|) and getting a few groceries for the coming week.  We still don't have a kitchen so are eating 95% takeout, but I like to make myself breakfasts (oatmeal with berries and peanut butter), and it's good to have snacks around.

So I did kind of a large order from Gap last weekend!  I don't remember exactly what the sale was, but it was close to 50% off and included shoes, and I've been wanting to dry these d'orsay flats in the Buff colour, as well as these black leather espadrilles.  I also ordered this striped one-piece swimsuit that I talked about last week, this comfy-looking bralette, and these fun sunglasses in Crystal.  My favourite bralette is from Gap, it's super soft and is the one I always reach for after work and on the weekends.  The only problem is, it's too small!  So I hopefully this new one I ordered will be just as soft, but will fit better!

I also found two good jumpsuit options (I think!).  This one from Dynamite is a bit of a statement piece, and this one from Banana Republic is more classic.  Any thoughts?!  I haven't tried either of them on yet, so I don't even know they are going to work, and the Banana one is way too expensive so I need to wait for it to be reduced ... and then go on further sale!  LOL Speaking of Dynamite, I was at the mall this week returning my American Eagle items and I popped in to see if they had the jumpsuit.  They didn't, but I did see this dress which has been in my cart waiting for a sale.  To my surprise, the material is totally different than what I was expecting, and in a good way!  It's like a heavy cotton linen, so there's no need for a lining.  Once it goes on sale I'm definitely getting it!

Anyways, thank you all for reading and I hope you have a great week!

Hi everyone!  Happy Saturday!

What is everyone up to this weekend?

T is going out for a guys-only birthday dinner tonight so I'm going to go to hot yoga (yes, again!) and then just enjoy some (much-needed) alone time at home.  We got our new fridge this week and I have already transferred all of the fridge items, but I need to do the freezer stuff so hopefully that will happen today/tonight so I can clean out the old fridge and get it sold!  I also need to do a few chores/errands like laundry, breakfast groceries for next week and our growing pile of dishes (that I need to hand-wash in our bathroom sink! #yaykitchenreno).

This morning I woke up early (this seems to be my new norm) and did my nails while watching Bryan Inc.  Do you guys know that show?  It's a home reno show on HGTV here in Canada and the couple is super likeable and they have great taste so it's a fun watch.

I seem to have quite the blue and white theme going on this week!  LOL
I have to apologize for my wrinkly sweater in the first outfit too, yikes!  I didn't realize how bad it was until I was editing the photos and by then it was too late :\

Anyways, this week I got to wear my new woven mules and gingham shirt that I told you about last week!  I love them both and couldn't recommend them more.  The mules also come in white and black, just FYI ;)
Speaking of last week, I decided to return the beige mules from H&M since they were a little bit big; unfortunately they are still sold out online in that colour so I'll have to keep checking back or looking elsewhere.  The retail store closest to me doesn't usually have a good selection of footwear so I'm not holding my breath that I'll find them in-store, either.

One thing I'm finding myself obsessed with at the moment is skirts!  I really want to refresh my skirt supply but am having a hard time finding ones that I like!  Where do you guys shop for skirts?  I'm thinking about going to some consignment stores to see if they have some more options than what I've been able to find online.  I'd like a white mini skirt, a replacement yellow mini skirt, a red skirt, and maybe another knit midi skirt.  Is that too much to ask?  LOL I wish I wasn't mad at ASOS actually as they have TONS of skirts, all very reasonably priced!

Other than that, I'm eyeing these athletic-inspired dress pants from Old Navy and this one-piece striped bathing suit from Gap.  What do you think?

Hey everyone!  Happy Weekend!

Spring has truly sprung in Vancouver, which means you never know what the weather is going to be like, but you should always plan on there being a chance of rain!

So all of the online shopping I told you about last week arrived!!  My Gap order included these mules, this bikini top and this gingham top from Old Navy which are all keepers (yay!).  From American Eagle I'm keeping this top, but sending back the bikini bottoms and this top as it was way too short and boxy :(.  The bikini bottoms I actually liked but I'm trying to find a pair that doesn't cut into my sides too much (hello, muffin top!) and these definitely did.  I went on a mad online search for bikini bottoms after those ones didn't work out but finally decided to just wait until closer to summer when (hopefully) my muffin top has shrunk and I'm feeling more confident about trying on bikini bottoms in general.  I have a couple of pairs that mix and match with a bunch of tops right now that fit fine, and a couple of one-pieces so I'm covered for now.  And how adorable is that Gap top?!  It's so adorable, I can't wait to wear it!  Normally I would have ordered an XS, but they were sold out so I ordered a Small and it fits fine ... so just an FYI if you are planning on getting it!  The mules I ordered in a size 7; my typical size is 6.5 and they fit great with a tiny bit of room at the heel, so I'm not sure if the 6 would have been too small.  The gingham top from Old Navy I ordered in XS and the fit is slightly oversized.  I find Old Navy typically fits on the larger size so I always order the smallest size!

Unfortunately the romper and pleated midi skirt from H&M are returns, and I haven't decided if the mules are slightly too big or fine.  The pleated midi was a size too small and the poly material looked and felt cheap.  The romper was really cute and I wanted to love it, but I didn't think it was that flattering and I didn't like the slits down the arms.  Plus, where am I going to wear that?!  I'd rather hold out for a jumpsuit (or something else) that I really LOVE.  The mules feel a bit big, but they are sold out online now so I can't try on the smaller size for comparison ... what should I do?!  They're just a plain kind of beige mule, not that special, but super versatile for Spring I feel!  They would replace the beige flats I'm wearing with the pleated midi skirt above, which are overdue for retirement!  Lastly, (but not leastly), this striped top from Hollister arrived and is a keeper.  It fits oversized and is so soft!  I ordered my usual size (XS) and it has a nice, relaxed vibe to it.

What is everyone up to this weekend??

Last night I went to hot yoga, which was a nice, sweaty way to end the week, until a poor guy in front of me passed out in class!!  It was really scary, he fell forward onto his head (from seated) and started bleeding from his head wound, and convulsing!!  The teacher tried to tell us he was fine but I think he might have had a seizure!  Anyways, it was upsetting to say the least and I hope he is doing OK!

Today we had our new dishwasher and microwave delivered (bright and early!) and I've just been reading, doing my nails and blogging while T teaches himself a new board game.  Tonight we're meeting friends for dinner and maybe a movie at their place!  Tomorrow ... no plans but maybe brunch and some open houses?  LOL We'll see!

As always, thank you so much for reading!  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello, hello!  Happy Weekend!

How is everyone??  I am so tired, I only got 5 hours of sleep last night!  I apologize to all of you for whom that is a regular occurrence but I need my 8 hours!  If you've been reading this blog for awhile you know I usually get that, plus some on the weekend!  LOL.  Maybe the gods will have mercy on me and I can take a nap later!

Anyways, we don't have much of a weekend planned over here; yesterday I had to work and then last night I went to Juniper for dinner with a friend that was in town.  She slept over at our place and we stayed up late talking (hence the lack of sleep last night!).  Today I just need to get a few things done (blog post, laundry, nails, breakfast/lunch meal prep) but other than that we have no plans.  Probably just a lot of couch time, LOL!

We officially have no kitchen, just a fridge, so our week of eating takeout has begun!  I just hope things stay on track and it doesn't end up being longer than a week!  :/

Last week I mentioned a lot of things I was thinking about buying and I'm happy to report that I actually pulled the trigger on a quite a few!  Now, I haven't received any of them yet, so TBD on whether or not they are keepers, but I'm excited.  Rather than listing them I made a little widget that you can shop below:

(Let me know if you like this visual format better!)

I also purchased this top in the blue stripe (I wasn't able to add it to the widget above!  Argh!) . It doesn't look like much on the model but I saw it in store and it's super soft and I think will look great half-tucked with high-waisted skinny jeans and denim shorts in the summer.

I finally got my hair cut and coloured last week and it feels so much better!  The last outfit from this week with the navy top is from the day after I got it done; I literally did nothing except dry shampoo and finger brushing that morning!  Oh, and speaking of hair, on Monday (the striped dress outfit), my curling iron stopped working when I was literally halfway through curling my hair!  I had to brush out the curls and then do a side sweep so it wouldn't be so obvious!  LOL I actually re-ordered the exact same curling iron off Amazon that morning for same-day delivery but we were out when they tried to deliver it so I didn't get it for a few days!

In other sad news, I lost a diamond from my wedding band!!  I have to take it in to get fixed and am scared of how much it's going to cost!  I don't want to lose any more either so I took it off yesterday and now my ring finger looks so bare with just my engagement ring on!  It's funny the things you get used to!

Anyways, thank you all for visiting and I hope you have a great week!!
