Jules in Flats - March Work Outfits

Jules in Flats - March Work Outfits

Hi everyone!  Happy Easter!

What are you all up to this weekend?  T and I didn't make any plans, the long weekend kind of crept up on us (it seems early this year?!) and I think we thought we would be mid-reno, which we kind of are.  Next Friday is demo so after that we'll really be into the thick of it!  So far we can still completely use the kitchen but as soon as demo happens that's when things are going to get really crazy!  LOL So anyways we are just sticking around town this weekend, having a "staycation" if you will, and maybe going to the Scandinave Spa in Whistler tomorrow.

I have nothing too exciting to report about these outfits unfortunately; you've seen my blue Old Navy dress many times before (here, here, here, here!) and it's difficult to style it different ways so usually I just keep it simple and don't overthink it.  I'm not happy with the red pants outfit, I think I should have worn different shoes but I remember it was really rainy that day and I wanted to have warm feet.  I think the pants are also slightly too long to work with those boots - what do you think?  I don't know, overall it feels kind of sloppy and I felt that way wearing it as well.  The 'snow leopard' dress from Aritzia I do like and I haven't worn it in awhile (it's quite thin and cold to wear in winter as I haven't found a slip that works underneath).  Again, it's a hard one to wear differently.  I liked wearing it on the day but I feel the photos didn't turn out great.  The lilac sweater on the other hand is the opposite - the photos are good but I wanted to pull my hair out all day!  It was just feeling really dirty and gross LOL.

Anyways, I think there are going to be some good sales this weekend, I was watching Liz's Instastories and she did a try-on of some cute pieces from Abercrombie that are now all 50% off!  So I'm thinking about ordering this jumpsuit (stripes and culottes!), this cute tank and these overalls.  I haven't bought something from there in forever so I'm not sure about sizing ... from what I remember their stuff fits really small?  If you have any tips please let me know!!

Otherwise, I am also thinking about ordering these d'orsay flats and these mules from H&M.  I saw one of the jumpsuits that I was talking about last week in-store and the material was not what I wanted so I won't be ordering that one to try.  The sleeveless one looks SO nice but I'm having a mental block against another navy jumpsuit!  Argh am I crazy?!

I also saw this top in the store window of American Eagle and it looked really cute so I'm thinking about ordering that as well.  Lots of thinking going on over here but not a lot of actual shopping! LOL!

Anyways, thank you for reading and I hope you have a GREAT Easter weekend!

Hi everyone!  How are you?
(I know I start all of my blog posts the same way and I hope that doesn't bother you!)

If you caught my Instastory from a few weeks ago you might remember the 1.State dress from the last outfit here that I got at Winners.  I didn't try it on in the store and wasn't sure if I should keep it or not but ultimately (obviously!) decided to hold onto it.  It has short sleeves, a keyhole neckline and a cute ruffle hem, plus it's fully lined!  I belted it here to change up the silhouette a bit and I find dark florals work well in all seasons so they are usually a good bet (for me at least!).

I'm so happy it's jumpsuit season again!  I absolutely love the one I am wearing above which is from Old Navy two years ago.  I would like another one but I can't quite find the right one!  This and this from H&M are strong contenders, but I don't really want another one in navy, and the black one with the long sleeves doesn't seem as versatile and maybe more of a fall/winter item?  On the other hand, it's only $40 so maybe I should just try it??

Something else I'm keen to try this season is culottes!  I don't think they're as trendy as they used to be, but I'm curious to try out a new pants silhouette and think they can look really chic with mules and sandals.  The trick will be finding some that aren't too long!

My hair has been feeling really bleh lately and I realized that I haven't had it cut or coloured since December!  This always happens to me ... I let about 3 months go by before noticing that my hair is getting out of control and then I have to wait for an additional 2 weeks before I can get in to see my stylist!  LOL In any case I'm seeing her in early April and am excited to get rid of some of the dry, dead ends and to brighten up the colour again!  The timing for the colour is actually perfect with Spring just starting!

In home reno news, our new washer/dryer was installed on Monday and we can actually close the doors on the closet it's in!  (Our old laundry was a stacking unit in a closet, but there was no door, and you couldn't install one because the laundry unit was too deep.  It's right in our front entry next to the coat closet so it was the first thing you saw when you came into our apartment and I hated it!).  There seems to be a bit of an issue with the plumbing so we have our mop bucket catching the drips from the tap for now until the plumber comes in a couple of weeks to do some stuff in the kitchen.  Our cabinets from Ikea are being delivered on Monday (where we are going to store them I have no idea!) and I've ordered the sink, faucet, handles and new paper towel holder (LOL) for delivery!  Demo is scheduled for Friday April 6th and then the cabinets will be installed a week later!  (You can have your cabinets installed immediately after demo, but we need to have a plumber, electrician and drywaller come in in between to move some things around and do some patching before the cabinets are installed ... just FYI :))

Anyways, thank you all for reading and I hope you have a GREAT weekend!!

Hi everyone!  How are you?

Did you all have a good Saint Patrick's Day?! LOL

My brother and sister in law came and stayed with us on the weekend; my brother helped T replace a couple of closet doors in our hallway and in return we gave them our old stacking washer and dryer for the suite in their basement!  Meanwhile, us girls went shopping (I didn't buy anything!) and met up with them for patio drinks and dinner afterwards.  We tried a few different places for dinner but it was SO busy!  We ended up at The Flying Pig which we really like so it was a good choice.  On Sunday they did a bit of their own shopping while we tidied up the apartment and then we met them for a Pho lunch before they had to head back to the Okanagan and we went to a couple of open houses!  On Monday T met with our electrician and plumber, we went back to the countertop store for more samples, and then back to Ikea again to order our kitchen cabinets!  Tomorrow our new washer/dryer is being delivered so things are happening around here!

Anyways, thank you all so much for reading!

Hi everyone!  How are you?

I had the flu last week and missed two days of work, hence only three outfits!

I'm wearing a few new things that I told you about last week, this open-front sweater from Old Navy, the "Jules" loafer mules from Urban Outfitters and the jeans from American Eagle, and I have to say I am very happy with all 3!

T returned from a work trip to Toronto on Wednesday so he missed the worst of my sickness (thank goodness!) but it's been great to have him back.  We've been catching up on Survivor, Love Season 3 and getting ready for our kitchen reno - we have someone from Ikea coming to do our plan on Thursday!

Friday was my birthday and it ended up being a warm(ish) and sunny day so I popped out of work early to meet T for Happy Hour.  We went home to get ready before our dinner reservation at 8pm and T had made a really cute set-up with all of my favourite treats - gourmet donuts, sour patch kids, popcorn, red wine, homemade sangria (his first attempt and it was pretty good!), pink balloons and his present to me, a Lululemon rain jacket!  It was so sweet and thoughtful, I loved it!

We had dinner at Kissa Tanto (it was named best new restaurant in Canada last year, and even the New York Times has reviewed it!) with two friends of ours and it was really special.  The atmosphere and service were great, and everything we ate was delicious.  Thoroughly stuffed, we had them over to our place for a nightcap before calling it a night.

We must have really needed our rest as we slept in till noon both days (f-you, daylight savings!), went to an open house and Ikea on Saturday, and out for a late dinner on Sunday.

Anyways, I'm feeling much better and thank you all so much for reading!

Good morning friends!  Happy Weekend!

I am up super early for a Saturday, I had a great sleep last night but woke up at 7:30!  WTF!  Normally I would make a concerted effort to go back to sleep, but with T away I was just not as motivated to stay in bed so here we are :\

Last night I went to the member's opening of the Takashi Murakami exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery with friends from work and it was incredible!  I highly recommend you check out his work and the show if you are local!  The opening didn't start until 8 so rather than go home after work I went shopping downtown!

I had been doing a lot of online browsing and wanted to check out some things in-store.  Namely, new skinny ankle jeans that are actually ankle length on me, tight at the ankle, medium to high rise, and super stretchy.  I have had good luck with the Old Navy Rockstar Jeans in the past, and I like that they are available in a "short" length, but my sizes were sold out online so I needed to do some in-store investigating.  Merrick also posted recently about some of her favourite jeans and she always looks great so I wanted to try her recommendations - American Eagle and Abercrombie!  I didn't make it to Abercrombie, but I did end up buying these Rockstars and these AE jeans.  Hopefully I bought the right size and they don't stretch out too much!

I also wanted to check out this top, this sweatshirt and this necklace from H&M.  Unfortunately they didn't have the top (isn't it adorable?!) or the necklace, but I got the sweatshirt!  It's so cute and nice and soft on the inside, I think I am going to wear it today with one of my new pairs of jeans.

At Old Navy I also got this cardigan which is thicker and warmer and I think will be a great topper for Spring.  It doesn't fit too oversized which is important to me as a smaller person as sometimes that can look a little overwhelming.  I also got another sweatshirt from Old Navy!  Argh!  I definitely didn't need another one, but it was so cute and soft and this was before I went to H&M and I didn't know if I was going to like that one!  LOL!

I also stopped at Sephora for my free birthday gift (yay!), and picked up these fun earrings from Aldo.

If you saw my InstaStories on Thursday night, I showed a couple of recent purchases including this gingham dress, a floral dress from Winners, and these loafer mules.  I love the gingham print but am going to return the dress as it's not as versatile as I want it to be.  I really try and only buy things that I LOVE, and I was feeling lukewarm about the dress.  I wasn't sure about the 1. State floral dress either, but most people voted to keep it and I know that if I do I will wear it a lot and for a long time.  I still have a week to decide, but I am leaning towards keeping it.  And the loafer mules are definite keepers, I mean they are called the Jules loafer so how can I not?!  LOL On that note, this swimsuit is also named Jules ... should I buy it too?!

Today I am going to Hot Yoga, the blood donor clinic, the countertop store, grocery shopping and possibly Ikea.  It's going to be a busy one!

What do you guys have planned for the weekend?  Tell me in the comments below!

As always, thank you for reading!
