Well, it snowed again this week!  Soooo definitely not Spring yet LOL!

These shoes that I ordered last week arrived and I wore them around the office one afternoon.  I like them and they are totally going to work; they might be slightly big (I ordered my usual size) but I can get some insoles if necessary.  The black suede was on sale for about $60 but other colours seem to be double that which is too bad because I would definitely get them in more colours if they were $60 too!
Unfortunately none of my other shopping has arrived yet :( but hopefully this week.  On Friday I am going to the opening of the Murakami exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery with friends from work and it doesn't start until 8pm so I'll probably do some shopping beforehand.

T is going to Toronto on Wednesday for a week so I'll be on my own and am trying to think of things to do!  Thursday night I have my final laser hair removal and coolsculpting consultation, Friday night is the art gallery, Saturday is going to be really busy - yoga, donating blood, checking out countertops and going (back to) Ikea for pillows!  Then Sunday is the Oscars which I really want to watch but don't have cable!  Usually we download the next day and just hope we don't get any spoilers!

The other night we had friends over to play a new board game, Near and Far, and ordered in Indian for dinner.  I lost, but we still had fun!  Yesterday T had to work so I cleaned and did laundry while he was out ... I find those things are always easier to do alone, do you?  I hate cleaning our floors because I am bad at it so T usually does them.  But I did them yesterday since they were really bad and have now convinced myself that we need a Roomba, STAT!  It's just so hard to get all the dust and the hair with a broom!  A Roomba has been on my wishlist since I first heard of them (about 5 years ago) and unfortunately they seem to have doubled in price since then (or my memory is terrible!) . On the other hand, a lot of other companies are making similar products at a lower price point, but I feel like you might get what you pay for?  Anyways, I am going to do a bit more research before I decide which one to get.  If you have one, let me know what you think!!

Today we slept in (so nice!) and went to JamJar for brunch.  Afterwards, I walked up to Shoppers and TNA to grab a couple of things (dry shampoo, moisturizer, socks) before heading home to get cozy on the couch again!

Anyways, I hope you had a great weekend too and thank you for visiting!

Hi everyone!  How are you?

It was a short week for me since we had a holiday on Monday but I'm still glad it's the weekend!
We are supposed to have an "arctic blast" tonight which means snow (it's already snowing) and freezing temps for the week (yay!).

Did you all have a good Valentine's Day?  I wore this knit heart-print skirt that I bought years ago from Forever 21 - it's not super versatile but it doesn't take up very much space in my closet so I keep it around for the odd occasion like V-Day or my birthday!  We had a little party at work in the afternoon and then I went to Hot Yoga which unfortunately was a bit of a disappointment; the instructor wasn't very good in my opinion, it seemed like she was making it up as she went along!  Anyways, after that T and I made dinner (I had picked up some fresh pasta and these amazing Kobe meatballs from Meinhardt earlier in the day) and watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.  Spoiler alert: I didn't like it, but overall it was a great V-Day!  Oh I forgot to mention T bought me flowers, donuts from Cartems and a card!  He's the best.

As I mentioned last week, I am ready for Spring shopping!  Even though the weather isn't cooperating just yet (see "arctic blast" above) I went ahead and ordered a few things!  Now is the time to buy bathing suits because if you wait too long they will be sold out by the time summer arrives!  I also think people are ordering now for warm-weather trips, Spring Break, etc.  I kept getting these Instagram ads for online bathing suit retailers and ended up buying this palm-print one piece, this tropical long sleeve one-piece (for future scuba adventures), and this striped one-piece from one of them called Gamiss.  I am still obsessed with getting a striped one-piece this year!  Turns out the striped one-piece was out of stock so I ordered this one from ASOS instead, along with these loafers and these d'orsay flats.  My black and grey flats have seen better days (see above!) and I need some replacements ASAP, especially the black flats.  I wear them so much in the winter because I don't like wearing non-black shoes with black tights ... so I need options!  I also just ordered these flats as another option too, and these white mules because they were on sale (only $44!) and apparently white flats are going to be in this Spring?  I want these mules so bad but need them to go on further sale before I buy them.  Aren't they adorable?!  I also did an Old Navy order, a couple of boring things (these camis and these tanks), this striped sweater and this darling gingham dress!

We don't have many plans for the weekend; tomorrow we are going to Ikea to pick out our new kitchen cabinets and might be going to a birthday party for a friend's toddler (he's 2!) and this afternoon we are getting groceries delivered!  I was going to go to yoga today as well but the day has kind of gotten away from me!

Anyways, I hope you all have a great long weekend and thank you for visiting!

Hi everyone!

How are you?
Can I just say I did NOT realize that I just wore that blue dress the week before last?!  I even wore it with grey last time, too!  Yeesh.

Anyways, it's a long weekend here in BC which is great ... but sadly we aren't going away or doing anything fun like that!  Today I was kind of having a bad day for no particular reason - just feeling off, like kinda sad - and I came home and T could see that something was wrong but then we started talking about the reno we want to do to our kitchen/den and kind of got into a fight, so it hasn't really been a great start to the weekend!  :(

Tomorrow T has to work for a couple of hours and I am babysitting our niece!  She's just over 1 and her parents are moving to Victoria next weekend and they need to pack!  LOL so I am helping out for a few hours.  I have no idea what to do with a 1 year old so I had to ask my colleague at work who has a daughter the same age.  She said swings and Moana!  I think I can handle that :) . After babysitting we are picking up one of T's friends from the ferry and he'll be staying with us for the rest of the weekend!  There will be a lot of board game playing!!  He is the easiest house guest which takes a lot of the stress of hosting off of me, so that's nice!
What are you guys up to this weekend?

I did much better taking photos of my meals this week, but only for the first few days!  After Wednesday things kind of just went down hill, I don't know why!  I still tried to keep track of what I was eating though, even when I forgot to take pictures.

What are you guys doing for Valentine's Day?  We are having a little party at work and then I think T and I will make dinner together!  In the past we have chosen something kind of decadent to make (fondue, lobster) but I've kind of run out of decadent meal ideas!  How sad, right?  So I'm not sure what we are going to do ... I was thinking of prepping a lasagna on Monday (since it's a holiday) and then just popping it in the oven on V-Day?

Also, guys, I have to tell you - I am looking into Laser Hair Removal and CoolSculpting.  Am I crazy?  I don't know ... maybe.  The thing about Laser I am worried about is the hair coming back.  It's not permanent so is the reduction worth it?  I am just SO sick of shaving!!  And I'm going to be doing it for the rest of my life if I don't get Laser, so when you think about it like that, the cost is totally worth it!  And CoolSculpting ... well it's kind of the same thing.  The fat is only typically reduced by 20-30%, and it can come back too.  It's not like I'm rolling around in a ton of extra cash over here and both treatments are expensive, so it's definitely something that requires a lot of consideration!

In clothing/shopping news, can we all agree that we are OVER dressing for winter?!  Retailers need to starting bringing out their spring clothes ASAP.  Although, I have to say, I tried to be all "I don't need a sweater" on Monday when I wore that wrap top ... and I was WAY too cold :( :(
Apparently white shoes are going to be a thing this year - what are your thoughts on that?  I think these woven mules are cute but other than that I'm not sure ... Anyways, if you have done any good spring shopping already, please let me know!!

Thank you for reading!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are having a great weekend!  On Friday night we went for dinner at Nomad for a friend's birthday and it was delicious!  We've been there before and everything was great (food, service, atmosphere, location) so I knew what to expect and it didn't disappoint!  To share, we ordered the feature "bread and spread" which was a flaxseed sourdough with herb butter, and the feature veggie dish which was hedgehog mushrooms with collard greens, crisped quinoa and cured egg yolk.  For my main I had the house-made fettucine with wild mushrooms and smoked chicken and T had the beef cheek (he can't say no to steak!). Our friends just moved here from Victoria and we are so excited to have them closer!  We tried to go to The Shameful Tiki Room afterwards but there was a 2 hour wait (at 9:30pm!!) so shared a cab back to our neighbourhood and went for a drink at The Marquis instead!

On Saturday two of my cousins (sisters) were in town to see the hockey game with their partners so they came to visit in the afternoon which was so nice!  T was also going to the hockey game with a work colleague so I had the night to myself and went to Hot Yoga (again), did laundry (T always complains when I do laundry because he thinks I don't load it full enough and therefore it's loud and annoying :/ so I always try and do it when he's out! LOL), and edited pics for this post and my Monthly Outfit Roundup for January!

Last week I found the blog Hummusapien and went on a deep dive into her 'What I Ate This Week' posts.  Is it just me or do you guys find what other people eat fascinating too?!!  Anyways she inspired me to do a similar type of post and let me tell you - it's SO hard to remember to photograph your meals!!  I took all of ONE picture!  ONE for the whole week!  LOL Sooooo maybe I'll do better next week!  I bought most of the ingredients on this list for the lunches suggested last week and made the egg scramble (with pesto) and a mashed yams/kale/black bean bowl.  For lunches on the other days I think I had leftovers?  One day was a chicken stir fry on cauliflower rice ... and I don't remember what else! LOL. For breakfasts I usually have either oatmeal with peanut butter and fruit (berries or banana) or yogurt with fruit and granola, and for dinners last week we had fajitas two nights, I had leftover butter chicken one night, and chicken stir fry the other night!

I also loved her posts on intuitive eating.  Diet culture is SO pervasive and many of the thoughts we have and things we say are part of this that we don't even realize!  For example, wanting to exercise more (or "make sure we get our workout in") if we are going to be eating dessert or something "unhealthy".  Saying "I was so bad on the weekend, I need to make up for it this week".  "You look so skinny!".  Etc. etc.  I really want to read and learn more about intuitive eating and luckily she lists some great resources on her site.  I feel like I waste so much time and energy thinking about food and exercise and how I look and to be able to let go of all of that would be amazing!  I know it will be hard work, even this week was hard as I became conscious of all of the "diet" thoughts I would have and how I rationalized them to myself.  I also still like reading food blogs and healthy food blogs and those are littered with diet culture, so I think I have a lot of work to do! LOL.

Last week when I was sick I didn't exercise at all.  Typically I work out 3-5 days/week and I do that so that I don't get fat (see diet culture above!).  Yes, there are loads of other benefits to exercise but if we are being honest, that is why I do it.  However I discovered during my week of no-exercise that I wasn't sleeping as well as I usually do.  Normally I am a very good sleeper (fall asleep easily, get 8 hours of sleep, don't wake up in the night) and I LOVE sleeping.  So not sleeping well was super annoying and I realized it was the exercise!  So I'm super happy to have another reason to exercise, and love that it's a very motivating reason (for me), and it's not part of diet culture!  Win-win!
