Hi everyone!  Happy Weekend!  How are you??

I am good, tired.  We went to bed late last night as we had overnight guests and I woke up early this morning (for no particular reason) :/

Last night we went to the PNE!  Well, technically Playland as the "Fair at the PNE" opens on August 19.  It was really fun but I wish that there were more "non-scary" rides! LOL
We went up in the ferris wheel as our first ride as the sun was setting and it was so beautiful!  And, I got to have mini donuts!!  If you know me, you know fresh cinnamon sugar mini donuts are my weakness!  Big gourmet donuts do not compare; although that doesn't stop me from trying them, just to make sure ;)

Tonight we are going to watch the fireworks, probably from Kits Beach/Vanier Park area.  We went to that area last year and it was a great little spot.  I don't know what we're up to today but probably just relaxing, maybe brunch and hopefully some time in the sun.

Shopping-wise, my order from American Eagle with the striped one-piece bathing suit and distressed boyfriend jean shorts arrived.  The suit is definitely going back, the amount of coverage (or lack thereof!!)  on the rear was outrageous.  The thing looked completely ridiculous on me and was too big on top ... just a disaster!  LOL . The jean shorts on the other hand are really soft and I like the colour and distressing.  They are a little bit big, and too long so I have to fold the hem up again, but I think they are worth keeping.  I feel like a sausage in my other jean shorts so it will be nice to have a pair that I don't feel self-conscious in - even if they are falling down a bit!
I also ordered a new pair of Nike running shoes (on sale) that came this week.  I haven't worn them yet so I don't know if they are any good, but fingers crossed!
When I was returning this suit to J.Crew a few weeks ago, I tried on these sunglasses (in taupe) and really liked them!  At $100 they were too expensive but I kept checking sales online and yesterday they were 50% off, plus free shipping!  So I can't wait to get them :) .  Is it just me, or do you like having a variety of sunnies to choose from?  Wearing the same ones all the time gets a little boring, no?
And last but not least (and most expensively :/), I ordered these jeans off eBay.  I have the same pair in black and they are THE BEST.  So soft, so stretchy.  And I needed a new pair of medium/dark wash skinny ankle jeans so I hope these do the trick!

In other news, our passports arrived so we can book our trip to Bali!  A friend of ours works in the travel industry so he's been giving us some advice for booking flights; which airlines to travel etc. so that has been really helpful.  I used to wonder how travel agents were still in business when you can just do everything yourself, but with a trip like this I can see why!  There are so many options and different carriers and stopovers!

Anyways, I hope you all have a great weekend and come back soon for my Monthly Outfit Roundup for July!

Hi everyone!  How are you?

We are having pretty low-key weekend; it rained last night so we stayed home rather than going to the PNE as planned, and it's overcast/may rain today so we're going to clean and organize our place which hasn't been done for awhile so that will feel good.

Last night we started watching Ozark.  Have you guys seen it?  It's good I think, I want to see where it goes before I really give it my recommendation but I like it so far.

We were planning on going to Brewery and the Beast tomorrow but missed out on tickets; they are more expensive than they used to be so I don't think we'll bother trying to get them on Craigslist; I would rather go to the beach tomorrow anyways!  I just started reading Georgia, it's a novel about Georgia O'Keeffe and her relationship with Alfred Stieglitz.  I've loved similar books, like Z (a novel about Zelda Fitzgerald), and The Paris Wife (about Ernest Hemingway's first wife, Hadley).  Historical fiction, especially involving artists, is my jam!  But also, I really like mysteries/thrillers a la Gone Girl.  I just finished Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (she wrote Girl on the Train).  It was good.  I thought Girl on the Train was good but obvious.  Into the Water wasn't obvious, but it was a little meandering.  Like you are kinda wondering where its all going the whole time.  Probably my favourite mystery/thriller novel in awhile is I Let You Go.  It's got a big twist, is really emotional and a bit disturbing.  I highly recommend it.

Are you guys shopping the #NSALE??  Frankly I am already over all of the coverage on social.  Even though we have Nordstrom in Canada we don't get free shipping and free returns, prices are way higher because of the exchange rate and if you do order online, the shipping and duties you have to pay are crazy.  So if I were to do any shopping, it would be in-store and I'd probably be looking for medium-wash skinny ankle jeans, these Halogen flats look really pretty, and maybe a new bra.  I bought this bra during the sale last year and I love it.  I need something similar with no lace in black and nude but have kind of been waiting for ThirdLove to have a sale.  They never have sales but I remember last year they had ONE that I missed.  So I'm kind of waiting to see if that happens again.

That's all for now!  As always, thank you for reading!

Hi everyone!  How are you?!

First of all, let me apologize for the two totally wrinkly outfits!  Ugh.  Face palm.  I am getting a steamer ASAP.  Our iron has a steamer function but it's a bit loud and kind of annoying to use so I never do.  I feel like if I just have a small steamer I can use quickly in the AM it would really help.  Krista at Covering the Bases just included her favourite in her Top Amazon Buys, it's only $20 USD but on Amazon.ca it's $80 CAD!!  WTF?!  So annoying.  So I'll probably just go to Bed Bath and Beyond one day on my lunch break this week (it's a few blocks away from my work) and grab whatever small one they have that's under $30.

What's new with me?  Well, T & I renewed our passports this week (hello, Bali!) and T set an interview date for his Nexus application (they haven't gotten back to me yet!).  I saw the Monet exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery and we went to the Flats Block Party yesterday.  We saw the new Spiderman on Tuesday and are looking forward to the Game of Thrones premiere tonight!

Shopping-wise, the Hollister order was a total bust!  You guys, they tried to deliver to my work when the gallery was closed (Monday at 5:18pm, we close at 5) and rather than trying to re-deliver the next day like most sane shippers, the order is being automatically returned!!  WTF?!!  I contacted Hollister and they were no help whatsoever, telling me just to re-order and no there was nothing they could do.  Not even sorry about it.  So, needless to say I will NOT be ordering from them again and I don't recommend you do either!

In my never-ending quest for a striped one-piece bathing suit, I found this one at American Eagle which I ordered last night to try.  I don't love the side cut-outs and the high leg is probably higher than what I want, but at this point I am willing to compromise.  Even the stripes are not in the direction I wanted them!  LOL . So we'll see what it's like; it's supposed to arrive by the end of the month.

Other than that, I ordered some probiotics and collagen as I talked about last week, and Lululemon had a surprise online warehouse sale so I grabbed these leggings (in black) which I tried on a couple of months ago and just LOVED.  I didn't buy them at the time as I was getting the Align pants, which are the softest and most comfortable leggings you will ever wear by the way, but they are more for yoga/barre/lounging/travel.  The new leggings I bought, the Anew pants, are for working out.  They look SO good on.  I can't wait to get them but I have to tell you I bought them on the first day of the sale, and the next day they were marked down an additional $20!!  I contacted Lulu customer service (after waiting 20 mins for a live chat) and they wouldn't do a price adjustment.  And no, I couldn't just buy another pair at the lower price and then return my first (higher-priced) pair, as they were final sale.  So I'm not totally happy with Lulu customer service but I feel better informed for next time.

What are you guys up to this week?  Any fun summer plans?  Tell me in the comments below!

Hi everyone!!  How are you?!

Did you all have a good long weekend?  For our long weekend (last weekend, Canada Day), T and I went to Victoria (the capital of BC) for two nights.  Two of our friends live right downtown so it was the perfect place to catch all of the action (concerts, fireworks etc).  The following day (Sunday), we went for brunch at Ruby, and then met up with my cousin and her partner for a day of fishing!  They took us to Brentwood Bay and we spent the afternoon setting down prawn traps and enjoying the beautiful weather.  We ended up with a pretty good haul which T & I were expecting we'd eat that night, but they insisted we take them back to Vancouver and gave us a little cooler to take them in!  So sweet.  We stayed the night and then headed back to Vancouver the next day!

This past weekend was our annual family camping trip.  Each year, we go somewhere different and this time it was the Okanagan (where I'm from, and many of my family still live).  Since the destination is so familiar that part wasn't too exciting, but the weather was great (other than some smoke from forest fires) and the lake water was nice and refreshing.  More than that, it was great to see everyone, which is really the point!  We always try and have everyone together at Christmas and family camping; if we can make Thanksgiving and Easter work that's a bonus!  This year T & I were at Coachella during Easter and at Thanksgiving we'll be in Bali!  So any time we can see family this year is really special.

Onto this week's outfits:  this summer I am into keeping things simple.  As you can see, I'm not accessorizing much and a dress + belt, one-piece jumpsuit or ankle pants + breezy top are easy, no-fail outfit combinations.  Everything I'm wearing I've worn before, even that fuschia midi dress (isn't it pretty?!) which was a Banana Republic Factory purchase from last summer.  It's hard to wear in the winter but it was so cheap I was okay with it only being a one-season item.  I mean, it's pink!  How could I pass it up?!  LOL

Shopping-wise, I am obsessed with finding a one-piece striped bathing suit to wear this summer!  I really wanted to have one to wear for family camping, but I didn't have any luck.  Firstly, I ordered this one from J.Crew Factory but the bustline was too high (or my torso was too short!).  Then, I ordered this one from J.Crew but it was too small.  The next size up also didn't fit right.  Keep in mind I am ordering from Canada so things take at least two weeks to get here from the time you order them so this process has been going on for awhile!  I just found this one from Hollister (of all places) and it should arrive tomorrow.  Fingers crossed!

I wanted to give you an update on my FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program, if any of you are interested.  It's a bit of a long one so feel free to skip it if you're just here for the outfits!

Today is officially the last day of the 6-week program, but since we were away this weekend and I knew I would not be exercising or eating healthy, I ended the program on Friday morning with a weigh-in and measurements.  You guys - I did not lose a SINGLE pound or inch!!  To say I am disappointed would be a huge understatement.  The point of the program is not to lose weight, it is to lose fat.  Muscle weighs more than fat so when you are lifting heavy (as you are in this program), you can expect to gain muscle.  So I am not totally surprised that the scale didn't change.  But to not lose any inches either?!  Guys, 6 weeks of intermittent fasting, carb cycling, sprints/HIIT and strength training is not nothing, so for me to have done all of that work and not see ANY progress is pretty defeating.  The creator of the program, Amanda, says two things about people who don't see scale/measurement progress.  1. Are there other signs of progress (ie, more energy, better sleep, better focus, just feeling better in general) and 2. You might not have a healthy gut, so try probiotics.  For me, I am already pretty healthy and sleep great.  I didn't "feel" any different on the program except hungry during fasting, sometimes cranky because of fasting, and sometimes sluggish on low-carb days.  So there were no "non-scale" benefits of the program for me.  As for the healthy gut, I really have no idea.  I mean, how do you tell if you have a healthy gut or not?  So, I have ordered some probiotics (along with collagen, which I was skeptical about but has been recommended by a nutritionist in the program.  I am also looking into glutamine, which was also recommended.  These are more for muscle recovery I believe, and I am hoping the collagen will help my intermittent knee pain which seemed to be getting worse with all of the lunges I had to do!) and I am interested to see if they do anything!  They aren't cheap so I was pretty hesitant to put any more money into this (the 6-wk program was $200 USD), but I think it's worth a shot if it will help me get rid of my little tummy pooch and tone up those abs!  LOL

Let me know if you have any questions about this program or any of the elements I mentioned above, I would be happy to try and answer them!

Okay, that's it for now.  Thanks for reading and have a great week!
