Hi everyone! How are you?
It's Sunday morning of a long weekend and I am at home sitting on my couch with a cup of coffee and a bagel waiting to be eaten. My upstairs neighbours are vacuuming which they love to do on the weekends (hey, I get it - I like to do laundry on the weekends) and T is still sleeping. Unfortunately I didn't sleep in yesterday or today, which is a major bummer around here. I know some of you have kids, or are early risers so sleeping-in is non-existent or just not a possibility, but for me it really makes a huge difference to how I feel and view the weekend. A sleep in equals a good weekend, essentially. Luckily, I get one more day to try as tomorrow is a holiday here in BC (Family Day).
Yesterday I went to Front & Company and The Main Exchange, two local consignment stores, to look for (designer) black skinny jeans. I love buying jeans at consignment stores because they sell great brands at a major discount. Right now I am on the hunt for a really good pair of black skinny jeans, but I don't want to pay more than $200 CAD.
I'm not sure why I've picked that as my price limit, I've been buying designer jeans since I was in high school, mostly on Ebay and other second-hand methods, but have also splurged on full-priced pairs from Nordstrom and Aritzia. So in my experience, I know that designer denim is worth it. But the prices just seem to be going up for no particular reason. 3 years ago I could buy a pair of COH for $150 retail. Why are they now $250??
In the recent past, I have been wearing the Rockstar Skinny Jeans from Old Navy. I love they way they fit, but they fade and stretch out and I don't want to go through the cycle of buying a new pair every 6 months. I am over it. Unfortunately I didn't find anything yesterday, but am going to try Turnabout today as well.
In other shopping news, I was making a list of items I 'need' to purchase for Spring, so that I can prioritize which need to be purchased first and make sure I am not spending too much on impulse purchases (Old Navy Super Cash, I'm looking at you!). My beloved Deloris pumps from Aldo in nude were on the list - I just know that they will go with everything and will look especially good with skirts and dresses once it's warm enough to go sans tights - and I clicked over to the site just to check their status - and they were on sale for 50% off!! So naturally I purchased them immediately!
Last week I also bought some camisoles from Gap online (40% off) as mine desperately need replacing (they are embarrassingly old). They were supposed to arrive on Friday but never did so hopefully Tuesday. In the winter I wear a cami underneath my tops everyday for extra warmth, so they really need to be comfortable and not too high-cut (that is a major pet peeve). I prefer seamless as well, which the Gap ones aren't, so we'll see. I also like to wear a cami as a PJ top when sleeping over at someone's house or on a group trip (which we are doing next weekend!). Fran mentioned last week that she loves the Express tanks but recently ordered this one from Nordstrom, so I'm curious as to her review! I don't really shop at Express - for many years it seemed like a US-only brand - but we do have one downtown so I could potentially pick up a couple of their camis if the Gap ones don't work out. I also know that Rachelle from Pink Sole loves these tops from Express, which come in every colour and can be wore to work with a blazer, or solo for a night out - so that might be another good excuse to stop by ;)
Anyways, thank you for reading and I hope you have a great week!
