Hi everyone!  How are you?  Any fun weekend/Father's Day plans?

T and I are just having a chill stay-at-home Sunday - it's rainy today so the perfect excuse to stay inside and cuddle on the couch.  Tomorrow I need to return a couple of things (these shoes and this swimsuit), and I want to try on these pants at Aritzia so I'll do my workout in the morning and then head downtown afterwards.

Anyways, here's a look at what I wore to work last week.

The t-shirt in the first outfit is just a regular tee from H&M that is a little drapey, so I tied it in a knot just off to the side since the skirt is high-waisted.  Easy trick you can do with any longer/drapey tee that looks great with high-waisted bottoms!

Aritzia is having a sale right now for members of it's mailing list (the sale will go public on the 22nd) and I tried on this top a couple of weekends ago when shopping with my sister.  This tomatoey-red colour is really hot this summer and I fell in love with it.  Then, when getting dressed this week I realized my red peplum top is pretty much the same colour!  So I changed my mind on the top and ordered the more classic white.  I also ordered this super soft and cozy long-sleeve tee, which I have a striped version of already, and this sweater vest, which at least two of my colleagues have but it literally goes with everything and you can wear it year-round.  Is it more expensive than I would normally pay for a sweater vest?  Yes.  Everything I buy from Aritzia is more expensive than what I really want to pay.  But I try to buy on sale, and more often than not the quality is there for the price you pay.

I got an order in the mail from Old Navy/Gap last week which included this sports bra and this tie-back tank from Gap.  So cute!  I love their workout stuff.  From Old Navy I couldn't resist these striped espadrilles after I saw them on Penny Pincher Fashion's roundup, and these lace-up flats to replace my old pair.

My last outfit of the week is great for you neutral-lovers.  Classic black + white + camel.  A colleague asked if it was a new dress and it's not, I've had this Forever 21 dress forever but I haven't worn it in awhile.  The sleeves are a little wide/drapey so it's hard to wear with a cardigan or blazer, which is why I don't often wear it in the winter.  I dug through my archives and the last time I wore it was here

Thanks for reading and I hope you're having a great weekend!!

Hi everyone!  How was your weekend?

Ours was good, I worked on Saturday and then we went to our friend's place for dinner and boardgames.  I ate so.much.bread and drank a bottle of red wine!  Needless to say, I was feeling it the next day!  I was awake for a few hours in the early morning and then went back to sleep till mid-day lol - oops!  We went to an open house then Aphrodite's Cafe and Pie Shop for a late lunch/early dinner and some take-out pie.  Yum!

Today T had to work so I got up after he left and did my workout for the day (sprints + HIIT) outside, came home to shower and have some lunch and T came home for lunch too!  I spent the afternoon filling out our Nexus and Passport applications (bleh) and then we went for a casual dinner at Joey's (it's so close to us it's hard not to go there!).

Both days were mostly sunny so I'm glad we took advantage as the rest of the week is supposed to be cloudy/rainy :(

I don't have much else to chat about so I hope you all have a great week ahead!  And don't forget about Father's Day on Sunday!

I just can't stop wearing Navy this week!  LOL
Even on my day off I wore navy! (If you saw my InstaStory you know ;)).

Anyways, I'm back from my two-week work trip to Toronto and am still trying to catch up on all of my blog reading so tell me - how are you?  What did I miss?  On my end, Toronto was good.  Our auction went well (I work for Canada's largest Fine Art Auction House.  We're like Christies or Sotheby's in the US), and I helped organize the event this year which is why I went early - to make sure move-in and set up went smoothly.

I increased my ClassPass to 5 classes and took 4 when I was there - surprisingly, 3 were yoga and one was Studio Lagree.  Have you heard of it?  It's like intense Pilates on a machine (megaformer).  I really liked it!  My yoga studio Yyoga is on ClassPass now which is great, so I don't have to buy a separate pass!

But, I just started a 6-week diet and exercise program so I probably won't be doing much yoga or ClassPass-ing for awhile.  The program I'm doing is this one.  I heard about it through Katie at Pearls & Twirls and the May 22 start date was perfect for me (we'll be done right round Canada Day, July 1 - the official start of summer).  Normally I would not do a program that has so little actual information online, no non-blogger reviews (which seem like they might be sponsored??), and that you actually have to pay for - but the pitch that it's really good for people who have hit a plateau, that workout and eat clean and have stopped seeing results, that want to lose fat, not just weight - those claims really intrigued me and I figured I would give it a go!  The program is all about eating the right foods at the right times for the right reasons, and pairing specific workouts (HIIT, strength, sprints) with how you eat.  So yes, it's a little bit intense tracking everything you eat, but it's also eye-opening.  For example, I have used MyFitness Pal on and off for years, especially to figure out calories for recipes.  But I only ever used it for calories, not for macros.  With this program, we are aware of overall calories, but it's all about the macros.  I always thought I was a low-fat eater, but what I've become aware of is that more foods than I thought actually have quite a bit of fat in them!  Which isn't a bad thing, but I could be eating more protein to balance that out.  Anyways, the program also involves carb cycling and intermittent fasting, and the workouts so far are doable.  So hopefully it works!  I'll be sure to check in with you at the end of it and let you know my thoughts!  Hopefully I see results and can incorporate the ideas of the program into my regular lifestyle.

So, that's what's going on with me!

Shopping-wise, this adorable striped bathing suit arrived the day I left for Toronto so I wasn't able to try it on until I got back and sadly it's too small!  So I am exchanging it for a larger size.  And I bought these (in black) in Toronto.  They are super cute - absolutely no support but filled a gap in my closet.  Other than that, not much!  I'm already over budget this month with my H&M purchases, the above program and bathing suit, getting my hair done, and buying tickets to The National in December.

Hi everyone!  How are you?

I am attempting to recover from a doozy of a cold while also getting ready for a two-week work trip to Toronto!  Ahhhh!

I stayed home from work two days last week due to this nasty cold, and have since lost my voice!  Friday night my sister and her husband came in to town to stay with us and go to the U2 concert.  It was their first stop on the Joshua Tree tour, with Mumford and Sons as the opening act.  We were so excited!  I was sad I was sick - but so was my brother in law so I didn't feel too bad - but then the line-up to get in was so insane and we ended up missing Mumford!  It was really horribly organized and I will never get GA tickets for BC Place again!

Saturday my sister and I got up early and went for a few hours of shopping without our men and I got two super cute dresses (neither of which I can find online, sorry!) and a pair of espadrilles from H&M.  I wanted to try on these espadrilles and this blazer too, but neither was in stock yet.  Online order, here I come!  LOL
Then we met up with our hubbies for brunch at Cafe Crepe before they decided to hit the road to head home.

Anyways, I won't be taking outfit photos for the blog while I'm in Toronto so be sure to follow along on Instagram for mirror and top-down selfies!

Hey everyone!  How are you?

This week was a long one for me, I worked six days as you can see from the above - so I'm happy it's the weekend - and it's sunny here!  Yay!

Next weekend my sister and her husband are coming down and we are going to U2 and then the following Monday I am going to Toronto for two weeks for work, so I am enjoying having a no-plan Sunday.  Friday night I had my hair done, then yesterday I went to hot yoga, followed by a bit of shopping and a movie with T.  We met up with a friend for dinner afterwards and he ended up inviting more people to join us and they wanted to party so the night was much longer and more social than I had expected.  I wanted to go home at 9!  But it ended up being much later than that ... as a classic introvert I find many social situations to be exhausting and need to mentally prepare myself in advance for group gatherings.  I wasn't able to do that last night so it was a tough one.

In happier news, let's talk shopping!  I told you last week that I ordered a black pleated midi skirt from Dynamite to replace my J.Crew Factory one and I'm happy to say it's a keeper!  I had to exchange the size small I ordered for an XS but I was able to do that in-store yesterday.  I also had to exchange this cute white collarless cropped blazer for an XS and now it fits perfectly.  A white blazer is a great completer piece, especially in Spring and Summer.  You can see a few ways I wore my old H&M linen one here, here and here.  Sadly I didn't do a good enough job keeping that one clean and it started to look a bit dingy this year so it had to go.  But I think the Dynamite one is a good replacement and I like that the shape is a bit different than any other blazers I own.  If you are looking for a classic white blazer, Old Navy has two good options this year.  I tried on this one, but the smallest size was too big for me.  This one was sold out in XS online, but I saw it in-store yesterday in white and it looks really cute.  I also ordered this top from Dynamite and liked it so much I already wore it!

I ordered two midi skirts from Forever 21 that I Insta-storied about a week or so ago but am going to return them.  Don't get me wrong, they are really cute and I could definitely see myself wearing them, but I tried them on with a few different tops and could really only see myself wearing them one or two ways each.  I decided to be responsible and return them so I can save room in my closet (and bank account) for items I love more.  Like this adorable striped one-piece from J.Crew!!  Since last summer, a striped one-piece has been on my wishlist.  It is just so cute and classic.  I ordered this one from J.Crew Factory but the fit was off, so I have high hopes for this one!  I have a feeling it's going to be perfect :)

Hi everyone!  How are you??

Can you believe it's almost May?  Usually the weather here is better by now so I'm kind of thrown off by having to still wear tights and the chill in the air :(

Anyways, here's a look at what I wore to work last week.  Some hits and misses in there for sure, which I was definitely feeling when I wore them as well, but sometimes you just have to get dressed and get out the door, you know?

That jumpsuit from Old Navy (last year) is a hit and you will be seeing it at least once a month now that the weather is warming up slightly.  I couldn't think of a way to style it for Winter that wouldn't look sloppy (oversized sweater on top, etc.), and even having the extra layer of a cardigan was annoying for those bathroom trips!  So it's definitely more of a Spring/Summer piece.

White jeans!  I know these are a bit casual for some of you to wear to work ... me too but I can get away with it every now and again.  I ordered 3 pairs from Old Navy and 1 pair from J.Crew Factory to try and these "Mid-Rise Built-In Sculpt Rockstar Jeans" were the winner.  As per the reviews, definitely size up!  These ones are nice and stretchy, the mid-rise feels great as it hugs everything in without being too constricting and they are NOT see-through!  They are too long on me (I have the hems tucked under here), sadly my size in the "Short" length wasn't available so I may get them hemmed or just leave as-is.  It's kind of nice to have the option to roll under or over, depending on the look you want.  I could also just cut them myself for that raw-hem look, but then I wouldn't be able to wear them to work ...

The striped mock-neck bodysuit from Forever 21 ... well I bought that on a whim and it was final sale ($12) so I had to keep it and figured I'd at least try to wear it!  I'm not a huge fan of this look ... I think the whole thing is a little 90's ... but it was nice to not have to worry about tucking my shirt in, or excess fabric bulges.  I tried on this bodysuit (and another one in black that I bought) with two pencil skirts that I own and the black one looked great - exactly for the reasons I mentioned above - but because it is black you can really it see through the skirts (which are white and blush pink).  I've realized that what I need to make the pencil skirt/bodysuit combo work is a bodysuit in a lighter colour with a thong bottom.  The search continues!

Outfit 4: That peplum ruffle top by Banana is great and looks really cute on it's own, too.  It's sleeveless so you'll see more of it in the Summer.  This outfit is kind of meh in my opinion.  I wanted to wear pants that day, but not black and this grey pair were at the bottom of the pile (meaning worn the longest time ago compared to my other non-black pairs).

Outfit 5: I love the look of this teal midi skirt.  It's from J.Crew Factory last year but I've linked to a bunch of similar options for you.  The problem with this skirt is that it doesn't have an elastic waist, so it's not comfortable when sitting (it digs into my waist).  AND, the waistband is really high, so I can't wear a bodysuit or anything super fitted tucked into the skirt as it makes my hips look really big.  So the options of what to wear with this skirt are limited.  But I think with this long-sleeve top it looks cute.

I actually purchased this skirt in black in a size up (4 - the teal is a 2P, 4P was sold out), hoping that it would solve this problem (seen here), but it was too long.  I think a 4P would have been the perfect compromise!  Anyways, I found another black pleated midi with an elastic waist at Dynamite, so I ordered it and hopefully it works out!  It also comes in blush pink which I LOVE (who doesn't these days?), but I already have this pink pleated mini skirt ... so I told myself I couldn't buy it :/

Other shopping news ... a drapey trench has been at the top of my Spring wishlist and I finally found THE ONE with this scalloped version from Club Monaco.  CM has beautiful clothing that I find runs TTS if not a little small, which is good news for outerwear; especially something 'drapey' which tends to mean 'oversized' or 'less fitted'.  However, the prices can be $$$ ... so I keep my eye out for sales ... and this was a really good one!  Originally this trench was $298.  It was marked down to $199 and I got it during an additional 30% off sale = $140 + tax.  So, not bad considering it fits perfectly (length is often an issue), and is made of a beautiful medium-weight soft twill fabric.

Anyways, thank you all so much for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!
