These monthly outfit collages seem to be popular and they are a good reference for me as well, looking back to see what worked and what didn't.  And it is just so much easier and less time-consuming to snap a couple of photos on my balcony so I'm back there!  Le sigh. I can't use my nice 50mm lens which gives the blurry background because the balcony is not long enough (the lens is a fixed focal length, meaning no zoom in or out), so I am just using the regular 35mm lens which is not as nice.  I feel like I am just back where I started before I got my DSLR!  It is just so time-consuming and annoying (for me, anyways) to take outfit photos outside with my tripod and remote; there are always people around, what to do in inclimate weather, etc.  Mostly it is the time it takes and the carrying around of camera and tripod; I take a tote bag with lunch and sometimes breakfast to work, as well as a gym bag.  And I walk to work.  So to take another set of things, and to leave at least 30 minutes earlier, just does not happen.  And I can't take pics after work because that's when I go to the gym.  You see my predicament.

Anyways, enough complaining!!  I am back and happy to share what I wore to work in August with you guys.  I definitely see some questionable hairstyles up there lol!  My favourite new purchases are definitely those Old Navy Pixie Pants in the first row, and the Banana Republic Factory necklace I'm wearing with it.  Items I am not so enamoured with: those grey Target pants, I think the crotch is a little saggy and they are bit too cropped?  Same with those khaki-coloured Pixie Pants in the last row.  What do you guys think?

Old Navy is continuing to kill it, in my opinion, and I think I have $60 in SuperCash which I am stoked to use, starting Friday.  My sister in law and T both gave me $10 SuperCash coupons from their recent buys there, and I have $40 of my own from purchasing those Pixie's and booties.  When I was in-store a couple of weeks ago I saw a lot of drapey tees and soft, chunky cardigans.  I'd like some navy Pixie's and another black pair, so those are also on the list.  Plaid is going to be hot again this fall so I might snag a flannel button-up early.  I'd love some fall florals as well, we'll see!  I'll do a review for ya once I place my order :)

Shopping Review - Old Navy and Forever 21

8.06.2015

Hey everyone! I'm baaack!  I placed a couple of orders at Old Navy and Forever 21 recently, and wanted to do a couple of reviews for you.

Admittedly, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to athletic wear.  I mean, I don't need to wear head to toe Lululemon, but they definitely are my favourite brand when it comes to sports bottoms.  About a year and a half ago, I saw these striped capris at American Eagle Outfitters and decided to give them a try.  I mean, stripes?  Can't say no.  They turned out pretty well,  I kind of have to tug them up occasionally, but other than that they are holding up strong.  Over the past year or so there have a been a lot of good reviews for Old Navy's Compression Crops.  A lot of them have been from bloggers who partnered with Old Navy, meaning they were either gifted the items or paid for their reviews.  So, I take it with a grain of salt.  Especially if the blogger in question doesn't normally wear the brand.  But I digress.  I saw the "Purple Pizazz Poly" print online, and decided to give them a shot!  With discounts they came to $22.00 and I am very happy with them!  They definitely live up to their "Compression" title, they are very tight!  For reference, I am wearing a size small and am normally a 2 in ON pants.

Up next, Old Navy's The Pixie Mid-Rise Ankle Pant in Viney Floral, Size 2 Regular ($31.50):

I wear a lot of Old Navy's Pixie Pants (see here, here, here, here ... you get the idea) and was really excited when I saw this print pop up online.  It's reminiscent of polka dots (you can see detail shots below), in great fall colours.  They are slightly longer than my other Pixie's, with a 27.5" inseam.  My black Pixie's have a 26" inseam, which I approximated below by folding up the hem twice:

I think I will leave the length as-is for now, as I like the versatility of being able to wear a full-length pant, and also roll them up when needed.

The chambray I am wearing above is Old Navy's Classic Chambray Shirt in Medium Wash, Size XSmall ($21.50):

This shirt has excellent reviews online, and I have had my eye out for a soft, well-fitting chambray for awhile.  Unfortunately it was a bit stiff and the sleeves were slightly tight.   I mean, it's fine, but I am just not in love.  Part of me thinks that a chambray is just not for me!

Finally (for Old Navy), the Mixed Faux-Leather Ankle Boots in Tan, Size 6 ($42.00):

I wear my black ankle boots from Old Navy all.the.time (see here, here, here etc) and thought that a pair in another colour would add some versatility to my closet.  As I expected, they are just as good as my black pair and are definitely keepers!

Okay, now onto Forever 21.

I saw this Life in Progress Wrap Belt Chambray Dress ($29.90) in-store two months ago but the line for the fitting room was way too long for just one item so I let it go, assuming that I would just buy it online and try it on at home!  Well, it finally showed up in my size!  Yay!

It's super cute, no?  It's soft but has a nice weight.  It's a bit long for my taste, so I soaked it in warm water and tossed it in the dryer to see if it would shrink.  Success!  I am planning on wearing it on a date night with T soon and hope to take some outfit photos for you.  What do you think about wearing it to the office?  Too casual?

This Buttoned Shirt Dress in Size XSmall ($21.90) is really soft and nice:
(Can't find online anymore but this one is very similar)

The dress is unlined, I am wearing a black slip underneath.  The belt is mine as well.  These couple of additions make the dress a winner in my book.  Oh ya, and it has pockets!

Above, shown as it came (sleeves rolled up) in the box.

Whew!  Well, that's it for now, I hope you found my reviews helpful - please let me know if you have any questions!
