Shopping Review - Old Navy and Forever 21

8.06.2015

Hey everyone! I'm baaack!  I placed a couple of orders at Old Navy and Forever 21 recently, and wanted to do a couple of reviews for you.

Admittedly, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to athletic wear.  I mean, I don't need to wear head to toe Lululemon, but they definitely are my favourite brand when it comes to sports bottoms.  About a year and a half ago, I saw these striped capris at American Eagle Outfitters and decided to give them a try.  I mean, stripes?  Can't say no.  They turned out pretty well,  I kind of have to tug them up occasionally, but other than that they are holding up strong.  Over the past year or so there have a been a lot of good reviews for Old Navy's Compression Crops.  A lot of them have been from bloggers who partnered with Old Navy, meaning they were either gifted the items or paid for their reviews.  So, I take it with a grain of salt.  Especially if the blogger in question doesn't normally wear the brand.  But I digress.  I saw the "Purple Pizazz Poly" print online, and decided to give them a shot!  With discounts they came to $22.00 and I am very happy with them!  They definitely live up to their "Compression" title, they are very tight!  For reference, I am wearing a size small and am normally a 2 in ON pants.

Up next, Old Navy's The Pixie Mid-Rise Ankle Pant in Viney Floral, Size 2 Regular ($31.50):

I wear a lot of Old Navy's Pixie Pants (see here, here, here, here ... you get the idea) and was really excited when I saw this print pop up online.  It's reminiscent of polka dots (you can see detail shots below), in great fall colours.  They are slightly longer than my other Pixie's, with a 27.5" inseam.  My black Pixie's have a 26" inseam, which I approximated below by folding up the hem twice:

I think I will leave the length as-is for now, as I like the versatility of being able to wear a full-length pant, and also roll them up when needed.

The chambray I am wearing above is Old Navy's Classic Chambray Shirt in Medium Wash, Size XSmall ($21.50):

This shirt has excellent reviews online, and I have had my eye out for a soft, well-fitting chambray for awhile.  Unfortunately it was a bit stiff and the sleeves were slightly tight.   I mean, it's fine, but I am just not in love.  Part of me thinks that a chambray is just not for me!

Finally (for Old Navy), the Mixed Faux-Leather Ankle Boots in Tan, Size 6 ($42.00):

I wear my black ankle boots from Old Navy all.the.time (see here, here, here etc) and thought that a pair in another colour would add some versatility to my closet.  As I expected, they are just as good as my black pair and are definitely keepers!

Okay, now onto Forever 21.

I saw this Life in Progress Wrap Belt Chambray Dress ($29.90) in-store two months ago but the line for the fitting room was way too long for just one item so I let it go, assuming that I would just buy it online and try it on at home!  Well, it finally showed up in my size!  Yay!

It's super cute, no?  It's soft but has a nice weight.  It's a bit long for my taste, so I soaked it in warm water and tossed it in the dryer to see if it would shrink.  Success!  I am planning on wearing it on a date night with T soon and hope to take some outfit photos for you.  What do you think about wearing it to the office?  Too casual?

This Buttoned Shirt Dress in Size XSmall ($21.90) is really soft and nice:
(Can't find online anymore but this one is very similar)

The dress is unlined, I am wearing a black slip underneath.  The belt is mine as well.  These couple of additions make the dress a winner in my book.  Oh ya, and it has pockets!

Above, shown as it came (sleeves rolled up) in the box.

Whew!  Well, that's it for now, I hope you found my reviews helpful - please let me know if you have any questions!
