Smart Set: Red Lace Peplum Top $25 / Graphic tank top $15 / Pink Blouse with Back Zip $30 / Knit skirt $36

Hi everyone!  I did a little online shopping this month at Forever 21 and Smart Set!  I haven't received the packages yet but am eagerly anticipating their arrival :)

Bomber jackets are really in this Spring and after seeing Kate in her floral one I zeroed in on that print.  The femininity of the flowers keeps it from feeling too masculine, which is a concern with that style of jacket.  I love the pattern mixing of the stripes at the collar and cuffs - it gives the jacket a bit of a sporty vibe as well.  Next up, silver loafers.  Metallics are big this season as well and I find that they go with everything.  Loafers are one of my favourite styles of flats right now, so these were a no-brainer.  I only hope they hold up (the faux-suede loafers I have from F21 are shit).

Smart Set is a store that, until my random Boxing Dale sale online purchase when tops were like $10, I had not shopped at in AGES.  They partnered with a few Canadian bloggers I follow (Kate from O My Heart! comes to mind) and I was surprised by their chic stuff.  Cute blouses seem to be their forte, and are something I reach for on a daily basis.  You can never have too many!  They are so easy to dress up or down.  Anyways, the three picks above really caught my eye and I so hope they work out.  Smart Set sent me an additional 25% off my entire purchase coupon, for my birthday, so the whole order was even cheaper.  Finally, that knit ruched skirt!  I HAD to have it!  I just know I will wear the crap out of this thing during the spring and summer.  Comfy skirts are my jam, and I think I will be able to dress this one up for work as well - I will keep you posted!

Hi everyone, how is your weekend going?  Ours is off to a great start - if you follow me on Instagram you know we went out for Mexican last night - I was having a serious craving for it and Las Margaritas is our favourite place in Vancouver to go for Mexican cuisine.  I know that La Taqueria is really popular too, I haven't been there, but I didn't want tacos, I needed a good old-fashioned burrito!  Lol, plus a mango margarita or too didn't hurt :)  Just as and FYI, Las Margs is always busy for dinner (especially in the summer, they have a great patio), so be prepared for a bit of a wait.  We managed to sneak a couple of seats at the (very small) bar and have a drink before being seated, which was great.
No other plans for the weekend, really, save for the usual errands (laundry, groceries), catching up on blog reading and likely starting the new show Bloodline.  I need to photograph and post a bunch of clothing to sell online (Craigslist or eBay - man I wish we had Poshmark in Canada!) but I'm so lazy, I don't know if that will get done or not!

I hope you are all having a great weekend, too!

Oh, hey everyone!  Happy Hump Day!

(And happy belated St. Paddy's Day!)

Here's a look from last week when I sported bare legs for the first time this year (!!!) in this super comfy and soft midi skirt.  Midi and knee-length skirts are not as flattering on me as shorter lengths since I am petite, so it's important to try and elongate the leg either with heels :( or a nude pointy-toe flat, as seen here :)  The cropped sweater paired with the high-waisted skirt helps to lengthen the leg line as well.  I'd like to find a black cropped sweater or long sleeved top that's not too short - do you have any recommendations?

By the way, I finally posted by Monthly Outfit Roundups for January and February - go check 'em out!

Well, well, well!  What do we have here?  A blog post, omg!!  Lol, sorry I have been MIA for the past 10 days, I just could not get it together to get any blogging done.  I managed to sneak in a few outfit pics during the week but the weather has been super annoying - rain in the morning (when I take pics) and then nice and sunny in the afternoon!  (Or rainy all day, haha).
So, what have you all been up to?  I have some exciting news - on Monday I turned 30!  My brother and sister-in-law came down from the Okanagan last Friday night, and the next day we headed out with our friend Nick to Victoria.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous which made for a lovely ferry ride and subsequent Victoria adventures - we stayed at a hotel downtown which is great because everything is so close and walkable.  We had dinner reservations at Il Terrazzo which is an amazing, cozy Italian restaurant.  Afterwards we went dancing and had just an absolute blast.  The details of the end of the night are a little fuzzy, which is exactly how a 30th birthday party should end, in my opinion!  On Monday, my actual birthday, my bestie Kelsey and her boyfriend Nick were in Vancouver so we went for dinner at one of my favourite restaurants ever, Vij's.  If you are ever in Vancouver, I highly recommend you go.  They don't take reservations and always have at least a 45 minute wait, so be prepared.  You can always leave your name and go elsewhere for a drink first :)
I'll save the story of what T got me for my birthday for another post ... :)

Hi everyone!  This sweater dress from Joe Fresh is super thick and cozy - I love it!  It's also fitted, but not too body-con, which is nice both for body confidence/insecurity issues as well as making it more work-appropriate.  It's almost getting too warm to wear it, but last week I saw it hiding in the back of my closet and knew it needed to come out.  And this colour!  I feel like whenever I wear it, it turns out I need to wear it three days in a row!  I just can't get enough :)

Happy Wednesday!!

Hi everyone, happy Sunday!  I meant to post this on Friday but I just couldn't get it together, eek.  How was your week?  Ours was pretty great, except T hasn't been feeling well.  There's a cold going around at work too, so it might just be that time of year :(
In other news, some of our favourite shows are back on the air which makes for some fun TV-watching (The Voice, Survivor, House of Cards) and a nice lazy Sunday on the couch.
This is a simple look from last week with an H&M sweater I haven't worn in ages.  Spring items are popping up at all the retailers and, probably like you, I am getting super excited for the warmer weather and all the new clothes.  Every time I fill my online shopping cart with "new arrivals", I remind myself that it is still winter (although, hello March!) and not nearly warm enough to wear any of these items :(.  And then I close the tab and continue on my with my internet browsing, lol.  Do you guys do that too?  Fill up your cart with all the items you want, look at the total, and then close the tab?  I like doing it, it helps me really assess what I want to spend my money on.  Like, if I come back to the cart next week, will my mind change on any of the items, or will I have been thinking about that one blouse all week?  It's a good way to keep my shopping habit in check.  What are some of your shopping secrets?
