It's Really For Kids

10.30.2013

(Cardigan by Target, Top by H&M, Jeans by 7 for all Mankind, Shoes by Urban Outfitters, Purse by Coach)

I wore this outfit on Saturday when I was running around getting my Halloween costume & doing errands before going out that night.  I have to say, I love this outfit and wearing it felt very "me".
This cardigan is a recent purchase from Target (US) and I have been wearing it constantly.  It was such a good find and only $25.  I've been wanting a burgundy chunky cardigan but the ones I was seeing in stores/online were quite a bit longer and looser, which is not often a flattering look on me.  This one hits at the hip & fits more like a regular cardigan, but made from thicker materials.

Tonight T & I are headed to Stanley Park to check out this year's Ghost Train.  I love to go every year at Halloween, its really for kids, but I get a kick out of it.

Hi everyone!  Welcome back from the weekend!

Things got a little crazy around here, being the party weekend for Halloween and all ... and T had his Stag Party this weekend as well!  So we had a couple of out of town guests including my brother and brother-in-law, and T's Best Man.  My friend Kelsey & I decided to head out to a Halloween fundraiser on Saturday night where the theme was Rock Stars & Movie Stars.  She went as Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra and I went as Angelina Jolie circa Oscars 2012.

This is an outfit I wore on Friday for a lunch date with a friend, and it carried me through the day and out to dinner & drinks later on that night with our out-of-towners.

Interview Attire

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!

The weather has been so weird in Vancouver lately ... really foggy in some parts of the city and bright and sunny in other parts ... or both on the same day in the same part!
It's really challenging to dress for and later in the day I ended up adding tights, booties & a knit snood to ward off the chill and fog that came our way.

This is what I wore on Tuesday for my interview at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
I always like to wear a dress or skirt to an interview, rather than pants, as I feel it is a bit more formal & feminine.  Staying true to my style, I opted for flats although I did try on a few pairs of heels before committing.  I usually like to wear a blazer as well, as it conveys professionalism and really pulls an outfit together.  Interview attire, of course, should always reflect that company's dress code.  In this case, I decided to show my creativity and personality with this bright pink Forever 21 belt, as I figured the Gallery would have a somewhat creative dress code.

A Long-Winded Post About My New Purse

10.23.2013

So ... I bought a new Coach purse!

It definitely was not in the budget or on my shopping list when we went to Seattle last weekend, but I have been wanting a new purse for some time.  My black Coach purse's zipper to the main compartment has been broken for over 6 months and I haven't wanted to shell out the $45 to fix it when the body of the bag is fading and fraying in some parts.  I figured I would live with the broken zipper until I found a decently priced replacement.  And then, I was on my way to the Lululemon Outlet, and I passed by the Coach Factory Store.  Why not just pop in, I thought.  Just take a quick look around.  Well, the second I entered the store a sales associate gives me a coupon for an extra 50% off everything in the store - tempt me why don't you?!  So I had a quick look around and didn't see anything amazing.  Then, my eye caught this bin with a jumble of bags in it.  I rummaged around and found this beauty.   There were no tags on it, so I asked a SA if she could find out how much it was.  After some digging, she let me know that it was $65 CAD, including tax!  I couldn't pass it up, and as she was ringing me through I mentioned that the reason I was buying it was because of the zipper on my current bag, showing her.  She suggested I send it to Coach to be repaired, only paying $10 shipping each way.  I was thrilled!  So she filled out the forms and explained the repairs process to me, which took a little longer than I would have liked, but only because we were on a limited schedule at the Outlets, and away my old purse goes to be fixed!  In 4-6 weeks they'll ship it back to my home address and I will have two lovely, usable Coach purses for a very nice price.

Good morning & happy Monday!

Wow, was it ever hard to wake up this morning!  Mondays are usually tough for T and I, as we tend to stay up late and sleep in a lot on the weekends.  Even though I am not working, I still set an alarm and try to get up at reasonable time every day (9am).
Tomorrow I have an interview at the Vancouver Art Gallery, which I am really nervous and excited about.  I have wanted to work there since I was in University (6 yrs ago!) and have been applying for jobs there whenever they came up.  Finally I get an interview, and when I really need it!
So, wish me luck!

Ours was filled with long drives, lots of good food & drink, time spent with family, some great weather & a couple of hikes.

Tomorrow afternoon T & I are headed to Seattle to see Joy Formidable and spend a couple of days in the city shopping & visiting some friends.
I hope you all have a great week!

Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!

Sorry I've been M.I.A. this week, I didn't have any outfit pics from last week left over, and didn't need to get dressed to go out until Wednesday this week.  To be clear, I do get dressed on other days, but usually it's gym clothes and then Lululemons for home wear.

So it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend!  Which means T & I are heading to visit my family in the Okanagan for the long weekend.  I absolutely love turkey, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, apple pie, and pumpkin cheesecake.  Oh, and the wine!  There's a winery between Oliver and Osoyoos called Silver Sage Winery, and while being  T & I's favourite in the valley, also happens to make a white wine called "The Sage".  It's fermented with sage leaves and is perfect with turkey.  We have it every year at Thanksgiving and I look forward to it every time.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi there!  Happy Friday!

Are you all excited for the weekend?
T & I don't have any major plans, except for going on a movie date tonight to see "Gravity".  The next few weekends we are going to be away (to my parents' for Thanksgiving, Seattle for a concert, T's Bachelor Party) so I am totally cool with keeping it low-key this weekend.

This outfit is from Wednesday when I went for coffee with my friend Kelsey.  She just moved across the city and is now so much closer to me (and everything else in the city!) so I took her to a place in her new 'hood with The.Best.Cinnamon.Buns.Ever.  My sister actually introduced me to the place when she was going to UBC and I was in high school.  Ah, the good old days!
