In The Navy

10.30.2012

(Blazer & Skirt by H&M, Cardigan & Tights by Gap, Shoes by Banana Republic (outlet), Necklace by Aldo, Bracelets by Sirens)

This outfit came together surprisingly well considering I had no clue what to wear when I got up.  It was actually inspired by an outfit I wore in the Spring, which was one of my faves.
This skirt is also a favourite of mine, and it hasn't gotten much wear yet so I figured it was about time!

A New Week

10.29.2012

(Cardigan & Top by H&M, Skirt by F21, Tights by Urban Outfitters, Boots by Le Chateau, Necklace by H&M)

Hi everyone!  How was your weekend?

Mine was short, but good.  Here's what I got up to:

- Went to work on Saturday
- Decided on an outfit to wear to a wedding this coming weekend
- Went shoe shopping with the bride-to-be
- Made banana pancakes for dinner
- Attempted to put together a new Ikea dresser by myself (spoiler alert: it wasn't successful!)

- Watched Point Break for the first time.  Not bad, actually
- Ate some Halloween candy (ok, truth: I've been eating it all week!)

En Francais

10.26.2012

(Sweater by H&M, Shirt by Joe Fresh, Pants by Zara, Shoes & Necklace by Aldo, Ring by Tiffany & Co.)

Apologies for the late post today, peeps!

I picked up some inspiration from Tara with this one - she wore a striped dress with chambray underneath - which, admittedly, is not all that ground-breaking - but was perfect timing as I stared into my closet wondering 'what am i going to wear today?'

And looking at the photos now, it's giving me a French vibe, vous ne pensez pas

'Ditsy Geo' Dress

10.25.2012

(Cardigan by Zara, Dress by F21, Tights by Gap, Belt by J Crew Factory, Shoes by Aldo, Necklaces by F21 & Tiffany & Co.)

When you're sick, and you are going out in public, I think it's important to try and look your best, even if you are feeling the worst.  In fact, looking good while feeling bad can actually make you feel better! (Not in the same way that sleeping or DayQuil or ColdFx or whatever will actually make you feel better, but you get the idea).  Let me be clear: I am only advocating this for when you have to leave the house.  If I'm not going anywhere, I'm not getting dressed!
So here I am, attempting to look cute when I would have rather stayed at home in my pajamas!

The Days Just Drag On

(Cardigan & Pants by Gap, Top by H&M, Scarf by F21, Boots by Aldo, Ring by Tiffany & Co.)

Don't the days just drag on when you're sick ?

Forgive Me

10.23.2012

(Cardigan by Gap, Top by Old Navy, Skirt by F21, Tights by Gap, Shoes by Urban Outfitters, Ring by Le Chateau, Earrings by Tiffany & Co.)

Well, hello again!

I hope you will forgive me for not ironing this shirt.  Let's just focus on how awesome it is that the mustard yellow dots in the shirt match my skirt perfectly.

And I had never noticed before!

In other news, I think I am getting a cold :(
I shouldn't be surprised - my boss is super sick right now and a friend at our housewarming party had a cold also, so unfortunately I have become a victim.  What's worse is that my boss will be away all week, so I can't even call in sick if I need to (it's just the two of us that run the gallery!).  I'm trying to stay positive though & nip it in the bud ...
Wish me luck!

Blue, Bamboo

10.22.2012

(Sweater by H&M, Pants by Joe Fresh, Shoes & Necklace by Aldo)

So, you may have noticed some extra greenery on our balcony - sure makes the old plant look dead, no ?

These are new pants from Joe Fresh that I picked up a couple of weeks ago for $30.  They are actually 1 1/2 inches too long and I have been too lazy to take them to get hemmed so they are secured by duct tape in this photo ... eek!

New To Me

10.19.2012

(Jacket by Le Chateau, Top by Urban Outfitters, Tank by Jacob, Jeans by J Brand, Boots by Le Chateau, Scarf by Urban Outfitters)

Thank you for your kind words on yesterday's post!

These J Brand jeans are new (to me - from eBay) but are the same style as my very dark wash ones (811 in size 27, if you're interested).  I found myself wearing my first pair all the time and decided another pair in a lighter wash was in order!  Which, I'll be honest, was not a hard thing to convince myself ... I have a bit of a problem with buying jeans!

Happy Weekend!

Bad News

10.18.2012

(Cardigan by Gap, Top & Pants by H&M, Shoes by F21, Necklace & Ring by Tiffany & Co.)

You guys, yesterday sucked.  My iPhone was stolen while I was at work.
The only positive is that the thief took out the SIM card so I don't have to worry about him accessing my email, facebook, instagram, etc etc.  My iPhone & contract are fairly new (March of this year) so getting a new phone is going to be pretty costly.  Not cool.

Anyways.
This weekend T & are having a housewarming party and I'm super excited for that.  My sister, her husband & their two kids are coming down and we are really looking forward to seeing them, and showing off our place to our friends & family.

Art Toronto

10.17.2012

(Top c/o SugarLips, Jeans by J Brand, Shoes by Banana Republic (outlet), Earrings by Joe Fresh)

Jeans - for a full day of packing up paintings to go to the Toronto International Art Fair.  This is our first year going and I have to say, I'm glad I get to stay behind in Vancouver and run the gallery.  I actually love Toronto (many Vancouverites seem to not?!) but working a 4-day fair just does not appeal to me!

On a more appealing note, the weather eased up a bit and blessed us with some dryness so I could actually wear flats with this outfit.

Have a great one!

One Hundred Ninety Nine

10.16.2012

(Blazer by H&M, Cardigan by Zara, Dress (shrunken, now worn as a tunic) by H&M, Tights by Aritzia, Boots by Aldo, Belt by J Crew Factory, Necklace by Joe Fresh)

I know this outfit is quite similar to what I posted yesterday, but to be fair, were not worn in sequential days in real life.  Or maybe all I want to wear is dresses with boots and blazers.  Could be.  Let's find out what happens tomorrow, shall we?

Striped Sweater Dress

10.15.2012

(Blazer by H&M, Dress by Old Navy, Tights by Gap, Boots by Aldo, Jewelry by Tiffany & Co.)

I don't know why, but I've always wanted a sweater dress.
This one popped up at Old Navy & I had to give it a try.  It's really cozy, but not too thick.  The pink is really bright in person, too.  It's a keeper & this outfit is one of my faves of the fall so far.

Tights, First

10.12.2012

(Dress by Banana Republic (outlet), Button up by Joe Fresh, Belt by J Crew Factory, Tights by Gap, Shoes by Aldo, Necklace by Tiffany & Co.)

Well, I knew the tights would have to come out sooner or later, and here they are :(

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cold Feet

10.11.2012

(Sweater by Gap, Blouse & Pants by H&M, Shoes by Urban Outfitters, Earrings by Tiffany & Co., Ring by Le Chateau)

Doesn't it look like I have no hair in that last pic?  Yikes!

One of the reasons I hate winter is because I hate being cold and my hands and feet are particularly vulnerable (aren't everyones?).  I find winter footwear particularly troubling -  I would love to wear thick cozy socks everyday (I would be in heaven!) but with ballet flats, loafers, and any other shoe besides a boot, I'm S.O.L.
Or am I ?  Any brilliant solutions out there for me ?

xo jules

BTW, I've tried those low-cut shoe liners (you can always see them poking out!  plus they never stay on my foot and they don't do anything for warmth) as well as nude hose-type socks (which never stay up and aren't warm either!)
