Jules in Flats - October Outfits

Wow, October was a long month!  I did not realize last week that I would have a whole 'nother week of outfits to show you before we hit November!  Not to be cliche and talk about the weather, but we have been having amazing sunny days here which has definitely contributed to these outfit choices - bare legs on Monday and no boots in sight!  It honestly just rains so much here in the winter that I will take all the sunny days I can get 🌞🌞

Jules in Flats - Midi Wrap Dress (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

This is the midi wrap dress from Dynamite that finally went on sale so I could buy it! LOL . Now it's on even better sale at $40 - highly recommend.  I'm wearing the XS and am 5'3" and the midi length actually works on me!

Jules in Flats - Pintucked V-Neck Button Front Top with Blazer (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)
This top is back in stock at Old Navy and is only $30!  I said this last time I wore it, but it wrinkles quite easily.  If that doesn't bother you, I say go for it.  It's super cute and you can wear it work like I did here, or on the weekend with a pair of jeans and a cute cardigan.

Jules in Flats - Super Long Open Front Sweater (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

Okay so it's been sunny, but cold!  Like 3℃ in the mornings; so I decided it was time to pull out this super long open front sweater I got at Old Navy last year.  They have a similar one this year, but I can't tell exactly how long it is.  This one is quite cozy, but it does shed a bit which is annoying when you are wearing black pants.

Jules in Flats - Pussy Bow Tie Neck Mini Dress (Business Casual Fall Workwear on a Budget)

I wore this on Halloween!  No one at the gallery dresses up, but I always love wearing this dress on Halloween because it's black and orange so it makes me feel a little bit festive.

So I've been trying to decide if I want to jump on the slip-on sneaker trend, and if so, do I go for a lighter, neutral colour like a beige or a light grey, or do I just go for black?  In addition, my white Converse are looking a little worse for wear (I've washed them a handful of times, I think I need to change the laces) and I'd like to get a pair of white leather lace up sneakers as an alternative.  So that makes 2-3 pairs of potential new casual shoes, that I would wear only occasionally, and that adds up!  So after having multiple browser tabs open over the past few weeks I finally decided to start with one pair, and ordered this pair of suede Keds in light grey from The Bay.  I had this cute top in my cart already from a previous browsing session, and as I went to check out, some similar tops were suggested to me.  Well, down the rabbit hole I went and then next thing I knew, I had 3 tops and the Keds in my cart.  Two days later I get the shipping notification email telling me the tops had shipped, but the Keds were cancelled because they were out of stock!!  LOL . Soooo I'm kind of taking that as a sign that maybe they weren't the right buy?  To add another wrinkle to the story, I just saw Lilly post these on her Instagram and I kind of like them?!  But they seem very cool and masculine, which are not at all my style.  But they're not her style either, and they look great on her!  Here's my thinking: I need a pair of casual footwear that I can wear socks with to keep my feet warm in the winter, when it's not raining or snowing (I have rainboots, and snowboots).  What do you guys think?  Any suggestions??

Moving on from new shoe drama, I also bought an oversized plaid blazer this week from Dynamite!  It was on my saved wishlist and I saw that it was on sale for $40 so decided to order it and see exactly how oversized it really is!  I was on the fence honestly as I wasn't sure if this trend was still in, but I think it is??  Anyways once it arrives I'll show you guys and you can let me know what you think :)

Who celebrated Halloween this year?  We didn't dress up or go to any parties this year, in fact last year at Halloween we thought it would be fun to host a party this year, using our patio as extra space, but with the balcony renos going on that idea got kiboshed.  So on Thursday we went out for dinner at Nightingale (I've been wanting to try it forever) and then did the Ghost Train in Stanley Park (its an annual tradition)!  I bought a couple of boxes of Halloween candy for the gallery as well and that was kind of it.

I'm very excited to have a 2-day weekend again, it's been 2 weeks since I've had one!  Last weekend was great with my friend here though, we went to The Stable House Bistro for dinner Saturday night, and on Sunday we had brunch at home, then did a bit of shopping in the neighbourhood, had a light late lunch at Small Victory (we sat outside!), came home and watched a "spooky" movie with Tony (it was bad), and then went out for late night half price burgers!

Tonight we are having people over for a "spooky" board game and that's about all we have planned.  I'm working on the blog this morning and am going to be doing laundry at some point, so we'll just see where the rest of the weekend takes us!

Thank you all so much for visiting, and stay tuned for my October Monthly Outfit Roundup!

  1. Hey, for the mid-rise pixie ankle pants from old navy, do you usually order petite or regular? I think I recall you being 5'3" which is my height as well. Are the waist true to size?

    1. Hi Carley! I wear a regular size 2 in the Pixie ankle pants. I find they run true to size, I'm usually a 26 or 27 in other pants/jeans. xo

  2. I think all the bad weather has been around me! We had crazy cold weather and snow for Halloween. I'm glad at least someone is enjoying days without tights!
