Hey everyone!  How are you?  I can't believe that it's almost May!! It feels like April just started ... but I am happy if that means warmer weather!

Anyways, here's a look from last week wearing two new items - this red peplum blouse with lace from Smart Set (from this shopping post), and these faux-suede cognac flats from Aldo (from this Insta).  The cardigan is a super old H&M purchase and the pants are my favourite Old Navy Pixie Ankle Pant.  I never really got into the peplum trend when it started a few years ago; remember when the hems were quite severe?  But this softer, looser style of peplum is right up my alley.  I already have another pale pink top (see here) which is more of a drop-waist peplum and I just purchased this top from Old Navy which is not only way cuter in person but is 10x cuter on.  I never would have bought it from the online picture, but in-store it looked both cute and casual.  Speaking of in-store, my sister was in town over the weekend and we got to go shopping together!  Man I love shopping with her, we have similar but different tastes and are close to the same size so it's nice to compare fit, etc.

This coming weekend will be a busy one too; I have family from New Zealand coming in to town, and my Dad is coming down from the Okanagan to meet up with them (it's his brother and his family) and drive them back to wine country for the week.  They are such a sweet and loving family, each of my siblings and I have all been down to New Zealand on separate occasions, and together, and our relatives are just the best hosts.  So we are super excited to see them and show them around town, even if it is just for a few days!

I hope you all have a great week, and weekend, too!

Hey everyone!  I purchased these new faux-suede d'orsay flats from H&M the week before last and am loving them!  Unfortunately they are not showing up online, but you can probably find them in-store at your local H&M - they were only $30 (the pair I linked to are super similar but $100).  The shape is super flattering, I am already coveting a pair in black leather.  I tried on a few pairs last year, when the style was becoming really popular, but found that a lot of them dig into the side of your foot - ouch!  These ones don't, thankfully, however I probably could have gone up a half size as I do have one or two blisters ...

This dress is also an old fave from H&M and I have seen them bring it back in other colours (khaki, blush) so it is a popular style and will likely come back in black too.  Again, not online but I've linked to one that looks comparable.  I think this one needs to retire soon.  It's 100% cotton, which means it's beginning to fade, and the pleats on the bodice just don't lay flat like they used to (probably because I hate ironing).  In the past few years I've learned that cotton/jersey dresses just don't stand up like other blends and have tried to avoid buying them unless they are super cheap and for casual wear.  Polyester or a polyester blend, despite it's reputation for being a cheap material, in my experience wears much better with time.

The weather in Vancouver has been really lovely lately, it has been quite a beautiful Spring so far.  I love that I can bare-leg all my skirts and dresses, and I know sandal weather is right around the corner!

Hi everyone!  How are you?  Long time no chat :)

Did you all have a great Easter weekend?  The gallery was closed from Friday through Monday so I had a nice 4-day long weekend, which I spent with my family in the Okanagan.  T was/is in Toronto for work, so he wasn't able to join us but we had a great time nonetheless (see my Instagram for evidence!).  I finished The Girl on the Train over the weekend, which was a really great page-turner!  And of course the Easter Bunny came - my uncle planned a really hard scavenger hunt for the adults and kids to participate in together which was super fun.  And of course we ate. And drank. A lot.  LOL

All of my items from my Recent Buys post came in and I will do a review post soon - unfortunately I didn't take any try-ons pics of the items that didn't work :(  And again, if you follow me on Insta you know that I've already made some additional purchases which I am really excited about and that you will see in some upcoming posts.

Okay, on to the outfit!  This is a classic "Jules" work outfit if there ever was one!  Step 1: Skinny pants. Step 2: Blazer. Step 3: Top (sweater/blouse). Step 4: Flats.  So, nothing really original here, in fact I have probably worn this exact outfit before.  But bright colours and bright white are great for Spring, even on a grey day like it was when I wore this.  Even small things like a lower necklace, and exposed skin at the ankles and wrists help to transition an outfit into warmer weather.
