Jules in Flats - What I Wore to Work in July (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!  Here's a look at what I wore to work last week.

I am back to working at the gallery pretty much every day!  In BC we are in "Phase 3" of re-opening and being a small business with fewer employees our workspaces were already physically distanced from each other.  Our work is pretty collaborative so it can be a lot easier to work in the same space, and at the same time we need to see the paintings in person that clients are dropping off for sale, etc.  On the flip side, I was able to get a lot of work done when working from home in March and April!  So it all depends on what we're working on, and I like that we still have the option of working from home occasionally.

How are you all doing??  Working from home still?  Off for the summer?

Jules in Flats - Square Neck Puff Sleeve Top (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)
I am in love with this top!  I bought it when it was full price ($20) which was a great deal in itself but it's on sale now for $8.99!!  I am wearing a size small which is slightly roomy, I probably could have got an XS but I find H&M typically runs slightly small and ordering online you never know what you are going to get.

Jules in Flats - Sleeveless Collared Dress (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)
I was so excited to see Sam Edelman has brought these gladiator sandals back!  And this dress is another super old favourite from Forever 21 (RIP).

Jules in Flats - Wide Leg Cropped Pants (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)
J.Crew doesn't make these exact pants anymore and you don't see me wear them that often because they need to be steamed before each wear and I am lazy!  Love this look for summer though.

Jules in Flats - Square Neck Smocked Mini Dress for Work (Business Casual Workwear on a Budget)
I love this cute mini dress for summer!  It wasn't super warm the day I wore this so the extra layer of the knit duster vest was perfect for both warmth & making this dress more work appropriate.  For non-work it would look super cute with white sneakers & a denim jacket.

I have really been enjoying the slow weekends at home, hanging out on our patio.  It's nice to not have that societal pressure to be doing things and going places all the time - especially on the weekend.  I mean, we do what we want regardless of that but it's nice to not feel judged for spending our weekends at home is what I'm saying.  We were going to go to the Okanagan this weekend to visit family but decided against it since there were some COVID outbreaks in BC after last weekend, and it hasn't been 2 weeks since I returned from Toronto.  We will be seeing my family in another 2 weeks for our annual family camping trip anyways and we are very excited about that!

Speaking of Toronto, I shared all of my outfits from that very quick work trip on Insta (and Stories) but would you want a recap on the blog too?

I've been seeing #NSale content from a few bloggers I follow already (the sale opens in 2 weeks I think)!  Are you guys going to be shopping it this year?  I usually don't just because the shipping and duties to Canada didn't really make it worth it, and I am too lazy to shop in-store.  But Nordstrom Canada has good online shipping now, so I might!  It's hard for me to think ahead to what I might want to wear in the fall when we are smack in the middle of summer, which is another reason I don't usually shop it, so we'll see.

I bought some bike shorts from Aritzia and am VERY excited for them to arrive!  LOL.  They are just for wearing around the house, camping, casual errands etc.  I am treating them like summer leggings which is exactly what they are.  I will not be wearing them with a blazer or trying to dress them up whatsoever!!  Give me an oversized t-shirt and we are good to go!

I also bought these jeans from TNA on the way home from work the other night.  It's very unlike me to buy something like jeans without trying ALL of the options (in this case light wash, high waist, little stretch, ankle length, straight leg) and of course trying to get what I want for the cheapest price.  Sometimes I do all that and then a month goes by after all the shipping and try-ons and returns and I just end up with the first full-price option which happened to be the best and it kind of feels like I just wasted a month that I could have been enjoying that item!  I felt like that's what was going to happen with these jeans and I just really wanted to wear them NOW.  So I tried on 3 options in-store, brought these puppies home, cut the hems and have worn them twice since!  100% worth it.

Kk that's it from me for now!  I'm going to go enjoy the sun :). Hope you have a great weekend!

xo JULES
