Hi everyone! Welcome to 2020!
I hope you all had a great holiday break. T & I went to the Okanagan for a week over Christmas which was lovely and relaxing. There isn't a lot to do there so we spent most of our time just hanging out with family eating, drinking, reading and doing puzzles. We made & decorated Star Wars sugar cookies with my sister's family and then went to see Rise of Skywalker; we drove around on Christmas Eve looking at all the houses lit up; we had Christmas brunch at my parent's house and dinner at my Aunt's (I made caramel apple upside down cake for dessert!); we watched old movies on Boxing Day; went wine tasting and then did karaoke at our local ski hill for my cousin's wife's birthday, and then came back to Vancouver for the last 5 days of the holidays!
The day after we got back, T had plans with friends so I went downtown to return a few Cyber Week purchases (this, this and these), and to look for some jeans at Nordstrom since I had a couple of gift cards. I also wanted to try on these boots, but they didn't have them in stock. I tried on these ones instead and really liked them, but they weren't on sale so were about twice as much, and I was concerned about not being able to wear socks since the side cut-out is so low. One of the reasons I would choose a boot over a flat is because you can wear socks with boots which equals warmer feet!
I ended up buying this pair of jeans by Mother and Nordstrom hemmed them for me for free. I wore them last weekend and so far they are great! I sized down one size in these.
I worked on January 2 and 3 but this week was my full first week back!
An unintentionally all-Old Navy outfit! I've had this pair of Pixie's forever, they are fading but I love how the pattern has a polka-dot like feel. The sweater is from last year but is very good quality for the price point and is not itchy. I like the subtle waffle knit and cuffed hems ... this one looks very similar and comes in lots of colours!
Sweater by Old Navy (last year, similar)
Patterned Mid-Rise Pixie Ankle Pants by Old Navy (old pattern, similar)
Faux Suede Ankle Boots by Old Navy (old, similar)
Double Disc Pendant Necklace by ? (old, similar)
Faux Pearl Stud Earrings by ? (old, similar)
If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you may remember that the last time I tried to wear this skirt, I found out I had ripped a hole in the back seam! I took it to a tailor and she added a piece of fabric behind the hole and stitched it back up, so now it looks like new and it won't happen again! The cost to fix it was about $20, which considering the skirt is H&M and probably cost $35, is a lot, but for the work involved and the amount of wear I will get out of this skirt, it is totally worth it to me!
Cable Knit Sweater by Joe Fresh (old, similar $$, similar $)
Tweed Skirt by H&M (old, similar)
Tights by Hue
Zoe Suede D'Orsay Flats by J.Crew Factory
Tassel Necklace by J.Crew Factory (old, similar)
I have worn this cropped sweater / peplum top outfit before, but not for a while! I was proud of myself for wearing something other than just pants + a cozy sweater and my hair was not cooperating, so I pulled it back into a ponytail and added a cute headband with some of the same colour tones (pink!).
Cropped Sweater by H&M (old, similar)
Peplum Blouse by Smart Set (old, similar)
Mid-Rise Pixie Ankle Pants by Old Navy
Tithradia Mules by Aldo (sold out, similar)
Interlocking Circles Necklace by Tiffany & Co.
Headband by H&M (old, similar)
Okay wow it has been a long time since I've worn this dress! I remember when I first got it I wore it all the time. It's an oldie but a goodie for sure! Normally I would have worn this with my black vest, but I wanted to change it up and the heather greys and cream in this vest pick up on the lighter colours of the dress perfectly.
Floral Shift Dress by Old Navy (old, similar, similar)
Dunkirk/Olivie Sweater Vest by Wilfred (Aritzia, on sale now!)
Tights by Hue
Rodney D'Orsay Suede Flats by Sam Edelman
Tassel Necklace by Banana Republic Factory (old, similar)
I also bought this cute toque with pom from J.Crew (it was 30% off after the holidays, see it on me here!) and this pair of tech-friendly gloves from Aritzia (also on sale!). While I was at J.Crew I decided to try on some of their dress pants, as my Old Navy Pixie's seem to be bagging out, fading and attracting more lint than usual! I tried on the Cameron Slim Crop Pant and the Peyton High-rise Wide Leg Pant, both in size 2. They fit and felt great everywhere except for the length, so I'm waiting for an online sale so that I can order them in Petite to try!
Since I didn't pull the trigger on the Marc Fisher booties at Nordstrom, I am still on the hunt for a pair that I can wear with both pants and skirts, to replace my old Old Navy ones, which are looking worse for wear. I wore them in desperation this week (on Friday, not photographed!) and it was not a good look. I've ordered this pair and this pair from Aldo to try, and I think they are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I also ordered this pair of tall boots from Aldo - they look super similar to the OTK style that I tried from them, but the toe actually looks nicer, the shaft measurement is taller than the OTK boot, and they were 50% off! I also ordered this pair of booties from Old Navy to compare, and added this to my cart for the free shipping.
My Vitamin C serum from The Ordinary seemed to be losing it's effectiveness, and I've heard great things about the ones from Drunk Elephant and Ole Henricksen, so I took advantage of the holiday mini-sets and ordered this duo to try. The Ole Henricksen set sold out before I placed my order, but we are going downtown later today so I am going to pick it up in store! I don't have a good eye cream, so am excited to try out the famous Banana Bright! I also ordered this dry shampoo and this 'perfecting spray' from Living Proof. The dry shampoo is supposed to be different from other brands, in that it actually cleans your hair. I used it twice this week and really like it so far. I also used the perfecting spray this week, and like that as well! One of the free samples I received from Sephora was this concealer from Too Faced and I am really liking it so far! It's very creamy and blends into my skin well. It could be a touch more long-lasting, but that could just be my oily skin or setting powder! I found out that Blair from Atlantic-Pacific uses the Urban Decay setting powder & spray and she always looks flawless, so I may try that out!

I love how your peplum blouse looks under the sweater! What a great layering idea!
ReplyDeleteThose boots are PERFECT. I think my last impulse splurge was my 'librarian' dress, but I've worn it all winter, so it was worth it.
