Jules in Flats - August Outfits Week One (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

Jules in Flats- August Outfits Week One (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

Hi everyone!  It's been a hot minute since I've posted on here and as you can see I'm still getting the hang of/trying out indoor pics!  This solution can only last so long because as we get into the fall and winter months there won't be enough light in the mornings to take outfit pics inside.  But, like with the scaffolding/balcony/patio situation, I'll come up with a solution when we get there! (How's that for planning?!)

Jules in Flats - Olive Green Jersey Dress (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

I've had this Banana Republic Factory dress for years but rarely wore it because I didn't like the length.  Finally I got my mum to hem it for me and I like it so much better!  It might be a tad short for work, depending on your dress code/comfort level etc. and the cotton jersey material makes it skew more casual as well.  But it was so hot the day that I wore it I think it totally worked.  You could also layer a long blazer, cardigan or vest on top and it would counteract the shortness of the dress.

Jules in Flats - Tie Neck Dot Dress (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

This old Forever 21 dress just keeps giving!  I wear it year-round and I love how you can tie the neck ties in different ways, from a full-on bow to a simple fold-over and drape, like I've done here.

Jules in Flats - Floral Midi Skirt (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

Finally trying the silky midi skirt trend!  I've been waiting for this one to go on sale from Gap and I finally got it for $35 (It's $28 now!).  I actually kept the tags on the day that I wore it because I wasn't sure if I would like it enough to keep!  I did feel a bit self conscious about my midsection throughout the day, but it wasn't too bad!  As with most insecurities, they're probably mostly in my head and nobody else notices!

Jules in Flats - White Shift Dress with Sleeveless Knit Vest (Business Casual Summer Workwear on a Budget)

Ahhh... summer whites!  I finally found a used version of my beloved Wilfred vest in the heather grey/oatmeal colour!  It's not that I needed a used version, I just didn't want to pay full price!  This one I got off Poshmark, which we just got in Canada!  It's actually a different material than mine, this one is more of a merino wool, so not actually great for summer, but it's such a unicorn purchase (colour, size, discounted) that I just decided to keep it.

So, what has everyone been up to?!  I've been seeing posts from some people that have kids that school is starting soon and that blows my mind!  When I was a kid school always started after Labour Day weekend!

I haven't been doing a lot of shopping, I really haven't had time or felt the need for new things I guess.  Right now my summer clothes still feel pretty fresh (like I've only worn each dress once or twice for example) so that's nice!  I know retailers are starting to put out their fall items but I'm just not ready yet!

This weekend we are going to visit friends on Vancouver Island.  We are supposed to be doing our annual river float, but the weather isn't looking good so we'll probably just hang out!

I'll keep it short & sweet this week - thank you for visiting!!
