August Outfits Week Four

Hi everyone!  Happy long weekend!

I'm not sure about you but I really consider Labour Day Weekend to be the last weekend of summer.  I don't want summer to end and I will continue to dress like it's summer until the weather dictates otherwise, but there's something about Labour Day that kind of signals that those carefree, lazy, hot summer days are over.  I think it goes back to school honestly, school for me always started back up after Labour Day, which I know is not the case for everyone.

I remembered this top from a #tbt that I posted on Instagram and had to wear it shortly after!  Also you'll notice below I'm wearing the same outfit but with the colours reversed - not on purpose but I guess I was loving red & black this week(?)!

Tony bought me this dress for my birthday many years ago (my guess would be 4) and I wore it on his birthday this year!  It was surprisingly very difficult to find something similar to link to!

Ah yes, the opposite outfit to #1!  LOL . I'm not super happy with this outfit tbh but I've been neglecting my coloured/patterned pants pile for awhile and I don't think I've worn this pleated peplum top yet this summer so here we are.  It's not bad, it's just not great imo.

This is a classic look, I wore something very similar at the beginning of the month.  This is very basic cami dress from Old Navy that you can wear casually on the weekend, you can add a belt to it, you can wear it with a blazer or a cardigan, you could add a sweater on top to make it like a skirt - the options are almost endless.  To make it wearable to work in the summer just put a vest on it!

Here's what I'm not keeping and why:

Button-Front Mini Dress in Navy Floral and Red Floral
I ordered this in regular XS because Petite XS was sold out and like I thought, the dress is too long for my liking.  It's knee-length on me at 5'3".

Print Apron Wide-Leg Jumpsuit in Blue Floral
This was also too big in regular size 2.   Petite sizes are back in stock so I may re-order ...

Floral Print Shirtdress in Green Floral
Same problem as the first dress, too long and this one I did try in Petite XS.  It's too bad because I really like it otherwise.

Print Wrap Blouse in Pink Floral
The sleeves on this were too poofy and there was no hook & eye closure at the cleavage area so you'd have to pin it.  Sad because it's really pretty otherwise.  If poofy sleeves are your thing I'd say go for it!

This fit really big and while I think it could have worked I just didn't love it.


Are you guys buying fall stuff already?  I feel like there are going to be some good sales this weekend, but is it only going to be on summer stuff?  I'm totally that person that waits until the end of the season to buy stuff on super sale, I think this week I got pulled into sales J.Crew and J.Crew Factory were having and put like 4 pairs of sunglasses into my cart because they were 50% off, and I have two pairs of Levi's denim shorts in my cart at Aritzia, too 🤷

We are just staying home this weekend which is kind of sad because I really love doing a fun last weekend of summer (last year is really good example of this).  We were going to go to Portland to see The National for Tony's birthday which would have been a perfect end of summer weekend, but things didn't work out so now we're home!  Which is totally fine in its own way, we love being home and spending time with each other.  I was really hoping it was going to be hot and sunny so I could get one last day to seal in my summer tan, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen either! :(
