Hi everyone!  How are you??

Can you believe it's almost May?  Usually the weather here is better by now so I'm kind of thrown off by having to still wear tights and the chill in the air :(

Anyways, here's a look at what I wore to work last week.  Some hits and misses in there for sure, which I was definitely feeling when I wore them as well, but sometimes you just have to get dressed and get out the door, you know?

That jumpsuit from Old Navy (last year) is a hit and you will be seeing it at least once a month now that the weather is warming up slightly.  I couldn't think of a way to style it for Winter that wouldn't look sloppy (oversized sweater on top, etc.), and even having the extra layer of a cardigan was annoying for those bathroom trips!  So it's definitely more of a Spring/Summer piece.

White jeans!  I know these are a bit casual for some of you to wear to work ... me too but I can get away with it every now and again.  I ordered 3 pairs from Old Navy and 1 pair from J.Crew Factory to try and these "Mid-Rise Built-In Sculpt Rockstar Jeans" were the winner.  As per the reviews, definitely size up!  These ones are nice and stretchy, the mid-rise feels great as it hugs everything in without being too constricting and they are NOT see-through!  They are too long on me (I have the hems tucked under here), sadly my size in the "Short" length wasn't available so I may get them hemmed or just leave as-is.  It's kind of nice to have the option to roll under or over, depending on the look you want.  I could also just cut them myself for that raw-hem look, but then I wouldn't be able to wear them to work ...

The striped mock-neck bodysuit from Forever 21 ... well I bought that on a whim and it was final sale ($12) so I had to keep it and figured I'd at least try to wear it!  I'm not a huge fan of this look ... I think the whole thing is a little 90's ... but it was nice to not have to worry about tucking my shirt in, or excess fabric bulges.  I tried on this bodysuit (and another one in black that I bought) with two pencil skirts that I own and the black one looked great - exactly for the reasons I mentioned above - but because it is black you can really it see through the skirts (which are white and blush pink).  I've realized that what I need to make the pencil skirt/bodysuit combo work is a bodysuit in a lighter colour with a thong bottom.  The search continues!

Outfit 4: That peplum ruffle top by Banana is great and looks really cute on it's own, too.  It's sleeveless so you'll see more of it in the Summer.  This outfit is kind of meh in my opinion.  I wanted to wear pants that day, but not black and this grey pair were at the bottom of the pile (meaning worn the longest time ago compared to my other non-black pairs).

Outfit 5: I love the look of this teal midi skirt.  It's from J.Crew Factory last year but I've linked to a bunch of similar options for you.  The problem with this skirt is that it doesn't have an elastic waist, so it's not comfortable when sitting (it digs into my waist).  AND, the waistband is really high, so I can't wear a bodysuit or anything super fitted tucked into the skirt as it makes my hips look really big.  So the options of what to wear with this skirt are limited.  But I think with this long-sleeve top it looks cute.

I actually purchased this skirt in black in a size up (4 - the teal is a 2P, 4P was sold out), hoping that it would solve this problem (seen here), but it was too long.  I think a 4P would have been the perfect compromise!  Anyways, I found another black pleated midi with an elastic waist at Dynamite, so I ordered it and hopefully it works out!  It also comes in blush pink which I LOVE (who doesn't these days?), but I already have this pink pleated mini skirt ... so I told myself I couldn't buy it :/

Other shopping news ... a drapey trench has been at the top of my Spring wishlist and I finally found THE ONE with this scalloped version from Club Monaco.  CM has beautiful clothing that I find runs TTS if not a little small, which is good news for outerwear; especially something 'drapey' which tends to mean 'oversized' or 'less fitted'.  However, the prices can be $$$ ... so I keep my eye out for sales ... and this was a really good one!  Originally this trench was $298.  It was marked down to $199 and I got it during an additional 30% off sale = $140 + tax.  So, not bad considering it fits perfectly (length is often an issue), and is made of a beautiful medium-weight soft twill fabric.

Anyways, thank you all so much for reading and I hope you have a great weekend!

  1. All these looks are wonderful and different. I think that every career girl should have several looks for everyday. They must be both smart-casual and business looking. If you don't have enough skills of clothes paring you can look through review of Essay pro and get some extra knowledge.
