Hi everyone!  Happy Friday!

The weather has been so mild here, I've been able to get away with wearing an outfit like this on the regular.  Granted, I bundle up with a scarf while I'm at work since I'm always cold, but it's nice to not have to wear chunky turtlenecks, fleece lined tights and winter boots :)

Any exciting plans for the weekend?
We have friends in town for a double birthday celebration so the festivities will be full-on!  The plans for tonight are open (so anything could happen!) and tomorrow we'll be doing Dine Out Vancouver at Wildebeest ... followed by some bar hopping in Gastown.  Should be fun!  Hope you have a great one, too!

Yes, I have finally broken away from my burgundy and black obsession!  Stripes always go with red, in my opinion, and I think the camel breaks it up nicely and keeps it from veering too much into sailor territory.  Originally I was going to throw on my faux fur vest but found myself reaching for this statement necklace instead, and I like how it turned out!

You guys. Ugh.  Last week I picked up a cold from one of my friends on our Tofino trip and five days later I'm still feeling it.  It hasn't really gotten worse, the symptoms are virtually the same, but it just sucks not feeling like yourself.  It's like I'm constantly tired, with a headache and a sore throat.  Normally I am all about taking it easy when I get sick, I am not one of those people who "power through it".  But last week, it was our wedding anniversary, and our friends were still in town, so there was a lot of heaving eating, heaving drinking, and late nights.  Anyways, enough of my sob story & onto the outfit:

This lace top was a holiday sale impulse purchase from Smart Set online for $12.99.  I'm all about the loose fit tops right now (cover that food belly!) and this one is great.  I think I can probably still shrink it a bit and it will fit even better.  The back is sheer which is a nice feature, especially for the summer.  Here I've simply paired it with a cozy cardigan (in what other colour - burgundy), skinny black jeans and my go-to shoe of the moment, these black booties (sold out, similar here).

I can't stop wearing burgundy and black together (see here & here)!  They are such great winter colours, without being too dark or depressing.  Breaking up the darker tones with a neutral blouse in a fun print is always a good idea - this one is an old Forever 21 purchase with a weird elastic bubble hem that needs to be pulled down constantly, however I still like it!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

T called this my "fancy horse-rider" outfit, lol!  Although, I can't say that I disagree - the tan boots and khaki skinnies do veer dangerously into equestrian territory.  I'm wearing this necklace again, that my friends Nick and Kelsey bought me for Christmas - I just love it!  It kind of goes with everything so you will probably be seeing it a lot more, too.

Anyways, T & I just got back from a 4-day trip to Tofino with friends - it was our first time there and I have to say it was just as amazing as everyone says it is!  If you ever get the chance, go!

I love wearing a sweater over a dress in the winter months to get more use out of all my cute summer dresses!  But sometimes it can be tough to find a sweater that will work with the colours, neckline, and shape of the dress.  In this instance, for example, I think the colour and neckline are great, but it would look even better if the sweater were cropped, or nipped  in at the waist like the fit-and-flare dress underneath.  On the other hand, I kind of like how the length of the sweater changed the dress into more of a drop-waist silhouette, which is something I don't have in my closet.

To see more ways I've worn a sweater over a dress, see here, here and here.

Happy Monday!

I love this Gap sweater (it's old, there's a similar one here) - it's thin and lightweight, yet soft and cozy.  The heathered cream is a great neutral, and the pink details at the wrists and shoulders make it special.  Today I paired it with Old Navy's Rockstar Skinny Cords in Olive, which I've had for a few years.  Personally, I prefer the Mid-Rise fit of their skinnies, but they've only just introduced the style recently.

If you are a regular reader, you know I don't usually wear my hair up, or back.  I'm trying to change that this year and experiment a bit more with my hairstyles (maybe once every week or two?) - this double-French-braid style is inspired by hair goddess Olivia Palmero.

Happy Wednesday!

Hi everyone, happy Monday!  How was your weekend?

Ours was great - very relaxing :)
I finally took down our Christmas Tree (I know) and we got a few errands done around the house.  We started watching a new TV show, "The Knick" with Clive Owen, and we watched the Golden Globes last night as well.

I was complimented on the bright and cheery nature of this outfit twice when I wore it last week!  I suppose bright colours during the winter months are not the norm - but I find they lift my spirits :)  I find this skirt hard to style in the winter because it's hard not to veer into bumblebee territory when pairing it with black tights.  I think next time I will try with grey tights?  Any other suggestions?

I hope you all have a happy week!
