Hi everyone!

Today is going to be a long, busy day at work for me, but I think it'll be fun, too!

Here's a few things I've been liking lately:
Scouting for fall footwear
Doing some jeans DIY
Pinning ideas for workouts
Always looking for easy, healthy meal ideas
Dreaming of crisp, white bed linens

Navy & Yellow

5.26.2014

(Top by H&M (old, similar), Skirt by Forever 21 (old, similar), Belt by Joe Fresh (old, similar), Shoes by Old Navy (old, similar))

This was my first time wearing ankle boots with a skirt!  I know it's old hat, maybe even default mode for some people but it took me a long time to warm up to the idea.  I thought it looked good sometimes on other people, but not always, and didn't think I could pull it off.  I think I'm liking it though!  A flat or low-heeled pair of black ankle boots are on my radar for the fall; I think they'll get a lot of use, both with skirts & pants.  I'm always complaining about my feet being cold in the winter so wearing ankle boots more often should help.  Anyways, back to the here & now ... I got lots of compliments when I wore this skirt so I think it's definitely a keeper!  Yellow is such a perfect colour for the warmer months so I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot of this skirt!

Hi!

So this is what I wore on the first day of my new job ... a month ago!  Since I take outfit photos 5 times a week but only post 3 times ... there's a bit of a backlog!  Last year I solved this by showing two outfits per post; I'm not sure if I am going to do that again ... what do you think?  Having a backlog is kind of nice, because it means I can work on blogging in various stages - one day I might feel like editing photos so I'll do a whole batch at once whereas other days I might prep a few posts by getting all the links (above) sorted out.

In any case, it's raining here this morning and I got 4 hours of sleep last night (we had a friend come over for dinner and stay very late!) so I am really ready to crush this day and get to the weekend already!  (I have Saturday & Monday off but am working Sunday)

A Happy Outfit & What I'm Watching on TV

5.21.2014

(Sweater by Joe Fresh (old, similar), Pants by Gap, Boots by Aldo (old, similar), Scarf by Joe Fresh (old, similar), Nails Essie "Cute as a Button")

Something about this outfit makes me really happy.  Maybe it's the bright colours, or a (finally!) successful sock bun, but either way, I'll take it.

Canadians, did you all have a nice long weekend?  Americans, are you excited about yours coming up?  T & I had a nice relaxing time, venturing out for dinner on a sunny patio on Sunday and doing some fun balcony planning (plants, seating) & grocery shopping on Monday.

I love reading what bloggers are up to when they're not blogging, so I thought it might be fun to a little series on what I'm into these days.

First up: TV

-Game of Thrones

I mean, obviously

-Mad Men
I forget about this show when it's not on, but can't get enough when it is!

-The Voice
Guilty pleasure!

-Survivor
I hardly know anyone else that still watches this show, but T & I still love it

-Orphan Black
Interesting story line & its amazing that so many different characters are played by the same person!

-Hannibal
Creepy, violent, very cool cinematography

-Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown
A little less food-oriented than No Reservations but still classic Bourdain commentary, humour & cynicism

Victoria Day

Hi everyone!

Happy Victoria Day to my fellow Canadians!

Unfortunately I did not get a long weekend as I had to work on Saturday, but being at a new job, I didn't really expect it so no biggie.

Since I've been having writer's block I thought I'd share a couple of interesting articles with you:

An Open Letter From Introverts is hilarious and so, so true (other than #5, for me)

The Crossroads of Should and Must is a very interesting read about following your dreams

French Food Habits is a post written by Gabrielle at Design Mom about the eating habits of the French, from having lived there for 2 1/2 years, and is now back in the USA

PS Can you believe I'm still posting outfit photos from a month ago? Yikes!

Happy Friday & Forever 21 Shopping Hits & Misses

5.16.2014

(Vest & Top by H&M (similar vest by Urban Outfitters, similar top), Pants by Gap, Shoes by Banana Republic (outlet) (similar), Necklace by H&M (similar by H&M))

Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

I've really been having writer's block lately, every time I sit down to do a blog post I just can't think of anything to talk about!  So, today I'm going to do a little shopping recap for you.

I made two purchases online at Forever 21 recently, here are the hits & misses:

Hits:

Midnight Window Dress $29.80

Floral Fit & Flare Dress $21.80

Misses:

-this dress had a cute pattern but a weird ruffle at the bust

-this dress fit way too big on me (and I ordered an XS, the smallest size)

-I liked this dress but the open back would mean I couldn't wear a bra, and the front

looked bad bra-less

-I am going to see if I can get this in a size bigger.  I ordered an XS and it was very high-waisted lol

-This just didn't fit me right; that happens sometimes with smocked-waist skirts

Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions about fit, sizing, materials etc!
