Aztec Top & Pesto Cords

11.30.2012

(Cardigan by Costa Blanca (gifted), Top c/o Sugarlips, Pants by Old Navy, Belt by F21 (from a dress), Shoes by Banana Republic (outlet), Earrings by Tiffany & Co.)

I've been wearing this top a lot lately, but not during the day/to work, so you haven't seen it!
I really love the funky cut out neckline & it's as comfy as a t-shirt.

Have a great weekend!

Did you indulge in Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping ?
I managed to restrain myself, as I am on a bit of a self-imposed shopping ban.
It wasn't easy, but my bank account is thanking me !

Holiday Inspiration(s)

11.26.2012

(Sweater by Jacob (similar), Pants by H&M (similar), Shoes by F21 (similar), Ring by Le Chateau (similar))

This week it is going to be December & I can't believe it!
Usually T & I don't decorate for the holidays, but this year I think I'm going to.  We do have our own place now, after all, and can use the decorations in coming years.
Here are a few things that are inspiring me:

Black Friday

11.23.2012

(Dress & Belt by Joe Fresh (belt here), Scarf by Le Chateau, Tights by Gap, Shoes by Banana Republic (outlet) (similar), Earrings by Joe Fresh (similar))

I love this outfit.  I felt so good in it today, & don't you love when that happens?
I purchased this sweater dress a month or so ago from Joe Fresh for $39.  Its super cozy, thick, and such a perfect colour for Fall.  If there's a Joe near you, I highly recommend you high-tail it there and buy one for yourself !
Also, I don't see a lot of bloggers wearing Le Chateau & don't know if that's indicative of the rest of you as well, but their scarves are really soft & come in a wide variety of colours for only $15, so check them out if you're wanting a new scarf!

PS: I know this post sounds like an advertisement, but I am not affiliated with Le Chateau or Joe Fresh in any way & was not paid or given free swag to write these things.  I just really like these pieces & think that you would too!

A Small Change

11.21.2012

(Cardigan by H&M (similar), Top c/o Jacob, Pants by Gap, Boots by Aldo (similar), Scarf by Urban Outfitters (similar), Belt by F21 (from a dress) (similar), Earrings by Spring (similar in a different colour), Ring by Tiffany & Co.)

You must be sick of seeing this cardigan by now, and I don't blame you.  I've just found it so versatile lately, and now that I've taken the fabric belt that came with it, off.  It looks a lot more polished (and a lot less like a robe - see here ) when worn alone, or with a real belt.  Amazing how something so small can make such a big difference.

A Bit Fuzzy

11.20.2012

(Cords by Old Navy, Blazer by F21, Cardigan & Top by H&M (similar), (similar), Belt by F21 (from a dress), (similar), Boots by Aldo (similar), Necklaces by TIffany & Co. & F21 (similar))

 Yes, these pants are new.
A lot of petite bloggers have written about the Old Navy Rockstar Jeans & how great they are (fit well, come in a wide range of colour, good price)I have to admit, I was tempted to purchase a pair this spring when mint coloured jeans were really in, or red, or lilac or something.  But I just felt like I wouldn't be able to wear them to work & that I would probably choose regular jeans over coloured ones for non-work outifts.
Then, Fall came, and retailers decided that skinny cords would be 'in'.  I was tempted at Gap, but at $69.50 a pop,  I couldn't pull the trigger.  Enter Old Navy, with its seemingly-limitless colour choices & $30 price tag.  Red was tempting, but since I already have 2 (of the same pair!) pairs of red pants, I decided on green.  'Basil Pesto' to be exact.  First, I ordered them in a size 2.  They fit ... like a legging.  I felt a bit like a sausage.  So I exchanged them.  But they didn't have a 4R, just a 4P (petite), which I figured would be fine.  Let me tell you, they seemed to fit the exact same as the size 2!  So finally I got a 6, hoping that they would be the winner.  And they are!  Yay! I figured I could probably get away with wearing these cords at work ... occasionally ... or on 'casual' days ... or on days when my boss isn't at work, like today!

Catch Up

11.19.2012

(Blazer & Sweater by H&M (similar, similar), Jeans by Gap, Shoes & Necklace by Aldo, Belt by Joe Fresh (similar))

Hi everyone!  Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend.  Saturday I worked at the gallery & then volunteered at a charity art auction downtown.  It was a looooong day but well worth it!
Sunday T & I stayed home and had a couch day (we watched Person of Interest, SNL & Looper), did some laundry & ate leftover pizza.  Perfect kinda day in my book.

Next weekend is going to be super fun, we will be babysitting my niece & nephew & they are going to sleep over Saturday night, too!  They are awesome & we are super excited!

Hope you have a great week!

Challenge

11.16.2012

(Blazer by F21, Sweater by H&M (similar), Skirt by J. Crew Factory (here in another colour), Tights by Gap, Shoes & Necklace by Aldo (similar booties))

It took me forever to get dressed yesterday!  For some reason, I just could not decide on a top to go with this skirt.  Which is weird, because it would seem that basically any colour would go well with it.  But every turtleneck, sweater, or cardigan I tried just seemed too preppy.
Finally, as time was running out, this came together.  I think its pretty good, it was the best of the options I tried, but I think it could be better as well.  The good news is, I'm up for the challenge!

Any brilliant ideas you want to share with me would be most welcome!

At Home

11.15.2012

(Sweater by Gap (similar), Blouse by H&M (similar), Pants by Gap (similar), Boots by Aldo (similar), Necklace by Joe Fresh (similar))

Yesterday I came home at lunch & made spaghetti sauce in the crockpot.
It smelled soooo good when I came in the door 5 hours later!  The best part was, when we wanted to eat, we only needed to wait as long as it takes to cooks the noodles.  Love it.

Potential

11.13.2012

(Sweater from Winners (brand unknown, similar), Top & Scarf by H&M (similar, similar), Pants by Gap, Boots by Aldo, (similar), Belt by Joe Fresh (similar))

This cape-like chunky cardigan was, I think, around $30.  It seemed like one of those great buys, something cozy you can just throw on when you need to be warm but don't want to wear a coat; when you want to look put-together but relaxed. Which is exactly what it is, but for some reason I have found it hard to style (I've had it for at least a year, maybe longer?) and I think I've worn it less than 5 times.  This outfit, however, gives me hope.  Here, I think I've pulled it off and worn this piece to it's full potential.  So you'll probably be seeing a lot more of this sweater, in outfits just like this one :)
